Our media got to do better...

Natural fires in the Amazon are rare, and the majority of these fires were set by farmers preparing Amazon-adjacent farmland for next year's crops and pasture," soberly explains The New York Times. "Much of the land that is burning was not old-growth rain forest, but land that had already been cleared of trees and set for agricultural use."

When the New York Times says yes, you better believe it’s actually no, and vice/versa.

Reports I've read/seen on TV vary widely as to how much is burning, and who is responsible. Some idiot TV Late Night guy blamed Trump, but it appears the Leader of the Country has an aggressive program for Economic Growth that includes encouraging Farmers to burn/clear rainforest for Agg purposes.....and the farmers are happy to do it because it's more money for them.
As to how much is old growth is debated...…..but the filmed evidence surely shows old growth being burned, and 40,000 Soldiers wouldn't be needed to fight fires on previously burned/cleared ground would they? Don't think so...…..AND these fires DO get out of hand and spread into old growth, pristine forest.

Greed is a deadly thing for all involved IMO
