It would appear what Christ said regarding what to do for everlasting life is missing from the list.

Maybe I read too fast and missed it.

I like this list though.
Go to the site he gave us, there are literally over 300 of them! Ones we already know but we can use this to give all the new members and help them along the way! Thanks PH! You have some good in you!

No

I do not believe what you CLAIM jesus said, since you took him out of context.

Its ok, You proved you teach works.. Thats all anyone needs to hear..
Copy and pasting passages verbatim of what Christ said then repeating it exactly as shown isn't making a claim. It's reporting.

Luke 18:18,20,22
18 Then a certain ruler asked Him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

20 You know the commandments: ’...

22 You still lack one thing: Sell everything you own and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”

Matthew 19:16-17, 21
16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

17 and he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

Mark 10:17-19, 21
17As Jesus started on His way, a man ran up and knelt before Him. “Good Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

18“Why do you call Me good?” Jesus replied. “No one is good except God alone.

19 You know the commandments...

21 Jesus looked at him, loved him, and said to him, “There is one thing you lack: Go, sell everything you own and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come,
follow Me

I've added no words of my own.

Simple question: What was Christ's answers to the ruler's question about how to attain eternal life?

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. And as for me I believe "the law" proceeded out of Gods mouth, making this the first command of the one who shall Judge me.

Matthew 4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
Matthew 4:6 And saith unto him,
if thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Matthew 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

And I consider this to be the 2nd law that came from our Lord, who will Judge me

Matthew 4:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them
And this shall be on this wise that Satan shall promise all who will follow him

Matthew 4:9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.

And there will never be anything written or anything said that shall make me turn to the left or the right, for I am one of His

Matthew 4:11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

This is a ridiculous question. Let's assume I failed at every word. Would me failing at EVERY SINGLE WORD somehow disqualify Christ's words as valid?

Hey Y, Careful, they might figure that we hava copy of their playbook! Interesting how the only thing some people know to do with Yahshua's words is to abuse them. Plain enough!

Your right you did not add any words.

Why you did was miss the whole point. Jesus wanted to show them they did not add up. That they were sinners. And by the law cursed.

They did nto like that. They THOUGHT they obeyed the law..

Once again, IF YOU WANT T EARN SALVATION. CONTINUE ON.

Me? I got on my knees like the tax collector. And I refuse to boast of any works of my own earning my salvation.

Hey Y, I will comment to you on this post, did Jesus Love the Pharisees?

Mar 10:20-21 KJV And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. (21) Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

I guess by the time He got to John things had changed.

Is there a youth section on here? Seems like it may be more suitable for some, or maybe not.

Forgive me for entering into your discussion with posthuman however I wanted to ask you, when you refer to the holy spirit of the law, are these verses the one's you are referring to.
You jump right in when ever you are lead to do so. If I haven't welcomed you I apologize and wish to do so now. I appreciate the "tone" or civility of your posts and we could use more such "fruit of the Spirit" here. Praise the Lord Don't think that we don't see righteous indignation here also!!!

Actually no it is not

If you failed in one point, You have not obeyed.

But you do not like to hear this point. Because if would prove you guilty

Once again, Good luck earning your salvation. You will fail just as bad as the legalistic jews did, as well as all legalist who think they can earn their salvation by obedience.

ALL HAVE SINNED AND FALL SHORT

That included you. You will never meet Gods standard. No one will. But if you think you can, Feel free.

Jesus loved the whole world.. So why would he not love this person?

In fact, he loved him so much he tried to show him a truth, He was not perfect according to the law. If the man had seen this, he would have admitted his guilt and did like the tax collector and got on his knees

He walked away because he thought he was innocent.

how are you typing to us if you have sold everything and given it to the poor?

are you at a library?
If you must know, I have sold everything extra, treasured possessions I had, and given the proceeds to the poor or to charities. Gone forever. I have no extras. The only things I have is the stuff I need to earn money from one day to the next and to live. Like Paul. I live a common life.

I rent, have a computer for work, a phone for communication and work, and a few articles of clothing. Yes, everything else i had acquired has been given away.

This isn't a game or a joke to me.

I'm not pretending in this walk.

This is serious. Life and death.

...but even if I hadn't done those things, would that somehow disprove Christ's words as valid or true? Or somehow invalidate me to preach or teach Christ's true words?

Of course not.

The implication behind the question is fallacious.

Jesus said all you have, not just your extra.

This is what we call watering downs gods commands.

(And he did not want him to sell everything he just tried to show him where his heart was. God knows where our heart is. Thats why he comes at every one of us in different ways. As he did back then)

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Christ is quoting this:

He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.
(Deuteronomy 8:3)

to Satan, the wisest being ever created, ((OK, you could make an argument vs Solomon)) who at the time does not know who Christ is, and assumes He is only human, and that He can be tempted into sin. Satan fully understands the context.

Deuteronomy 8:3 references this:

In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.”
Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you."
(Exodus 16:2-4)
wherein the Israelites accuse God of being an evil & capricious murderer. this is "the lie" of Satan. it is the same lie that Satan is by insinuation giving Jesus telling Him to 'prove' Himself by making stones into bread.

Exodus 16 is before the covenant at Sinai and before the law.
the quail makes them sick and many die. the manna, and the concordant first command of a sabbath ever given in the scripture, is a test to see if they will obey Him - which they fail.

then they receive the law, having repeated the lie of Satan, accusing God of evil, and having been proven to be evil themselves.

Matthew 4 is incredibly complex. it's not there to tell you all to put yourselves under the Sinai covenant; it's there to teach you who Christ is and what is His work.

they did not practice My ordinances, but they rejected My statutes and profaned My Sabbaths, fixing their eyes on the idols of their fathers. I also gave them over to statutes that were not good and ordinances by which they could not live. And I pronounced them unclean through their gifts — the sacrifice of every firstborn in the fire—so that I might devastate them, in order that they would know that I am the LORD.
(Ezekiel 20:24-26)

there is a whole lot more going on here than what's being presented. the scripture is not simple.

Nothing in the text says the ruler lied, you have to slander him to fit your narrative. His issue wasn't obeying the commandments it was he lacked faith.

What you should note is when he confirmed that he's obeyedthe commandments since his youth, Christ didn't say to him "no way! That's impossible for anyone to do you liar!". He said, "ok then you're missing one more thing... sell all you have and follow me."

So the doctrine that "it's impossible to obey the commandments" is crushed in this one exchange.

o so you only 'kind of kept the command, maybe mostly but not really'

is it a habit with you to remove jots and tittles from everything, then?

 I mean really?

Jesus told him he needed to do one more thing

If he needed to do it, it means HE HAS NOT KEPT THE LAW SINCE BIRTH!
