Powerful verses in Job...

When the ear heard, it called me blessed, and when the eye saw, it approved, because I delivered the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to help him. The blessing of him who was about to perish came upon me, and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy. I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; my justice was like a robe and a turban.

Of course this is before I believe His pride caused stumble, and God allowed Satan to be used to humble.

I do know it is clear in the beginning of the book, He was blameless, but Satan was too, until His wisdom became corrupted with pride.

His living word is such a powerful force.

I cannot embrace that....Job was righteous and upright in his standing before GOD, he hated evil and SATAN accused GOD and JOB and said that JOB was only this way because GOD had always protected him.....the bible is clear....in ALL this JOB SINNED NOT WITH HIS LIPS.....and there is NO indication he rose up in pride and or sinned against GOD.....

I am open to changing my mind if you can pull quotes for the book which state otherwise.......I.E. something other than JOB or JOB's friends accusing.......

Thanks DC. Honestly, I suppose I am not certain just am studying. I just made my comment based on this..

Because God has loosed my cord and humbled me, they have cast off restraint in my presence.

I probably shouldn't have made the comparison to Satan, just pondering out loud.

It was Satan's pride which was being humbled through Job, not the opposite.

I wonder how any Christian today would respond to the TOTAL DEVASTATION visited upon Job if it came upon him or her.

(Excepting the messengers of disaster), Job lost ALL his children, ALL his servants, ALL his livestock, ALL his wealth, and then his personal well-being. Even his wife turned against him, and all his friends accused him of having done evil.

An observation as call of the gospel .

Interesting parable giving us the gospel message. . . coming along side the moral teaching.

I would offer...Three key words...Fatherless, widows, righteousness.

It would seem throughout the Bible as our source of belief it uses three together to represent the work of the gospel. Clothing us, His bride with His righteousness . . . the kind of religion or belief that comes by hearing our father in heaven . Previously without father as orphans and not having a husband . A ministry much needed especially for the elderly suffering widows. Male or female. In that way we are to special care for the Christian family and not neglect our own.

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world

Thanks Deade, i really appreciate your encouragement. I am so grateful to my Lord for His word. I still have so much to learn. I just need to be very mindful when I toss out my speculations. I can see where making that comparison was a huge and unfair stretch to Job's character.

As many times as I have read Job, there is just so much there.
I still can't figure out what was the reason or purpose God let him go threw that whole ordeal.

Right, we know He, God, was driving the point home that Job's faith and righteousness wasn't merely because of his smooth sailing life. But we also see he was humbled and that once he prayed for his friends, showing mercy outside Himself, He was freed from the opression, and given much.

So yeah, I am with you, it isn't completely certain for me either.

Our private lives are lived in public; the eyes of the Lord Jesus search our hearts and then He allows trials or Satan to expose them. 2Chron 16v9, 32v31, Job 1 and 2 N.B. 1v22 and 2v10. In the case of Job the trial was allowed to prove his worth.

It was also to perfect his faith, patience and character. Rom 5v1-5, James 5v7-12.

I have said for some time that in my view there is a bigger picture than the book itself and Job per se.............there are a handful of verses scattered throughout the bible and when viewed along side the picture of Job and Satan's fall......some very deep allusions.......
