Why Hell is a good question.
If life today is soft cushions
and protection, is holiness so
hard? Eternal torture for a
confusing life, is not a good
scenario.
Take an learning difficulties girl who gets lost in a jungle?
Tragedy, yes, torture no.

You know.....a couple of verses come to mind....

They went out from us because they were never of us.

and lest we forget.....before the BODY PRESENCE (COMING/PAROUSIA) of Christ and our gathering together unto him two things will take place.....PAUL was clear....2nd Thessalonians 2

a. APO-HYSTAMIE <---apostasy from the truth
b. The MAN of SIN, SON of PERDITION being revealed

LOOK....we CANNOT assume or believe that EVERYONE that names CHRIST is of CHRIST and I am reminded of the so called Christian rock bad Stryper....the songs they sang were so ambiguous that the could have easily been applied to worldly rock music with enough JESUS blended in to claim the status of Christian rock band......

I watched HILLSONG once and I could not help but think of Stryper and their conflation of worldly rock with a lemon twist of JESUS added for flavor......

I am a believer.....I have had a hard life...lost two children, went through drugs in the 80's, been a Marine, lost friends and family members, have a handicapped son, been without money and in the wilderness, also retired at 45 and have plenty, have gained friends and lost friends over ignorance, have had my dad killed at three, had three abusive step dads etc....BEEN through a living hell on earth and I have NEVER once thought about quitting JESUS or walking away from MY FAITH......

I have a hard time believing that a genuine saved child of GOD will actually quit JESUS and renounce faith......NOW ONE that was NEVER SAVED.....I can see that NO PROBLEM......
people stop trusting in others for one reason and one reason only

That person proved to be unfaithful. untrustworthy, and not someone you can rely on

Who thinks this of God? but those who never really knew him to begin with.

so he thinks the bible is full of contradiction

He thinks God is unfair to send millions to hell

these two statements alone make me question if he ever really knew God at all.

it says he was a member since he was 16, So he grew up in church? it does not mean he knew God.. He did what he loved, and eventually made money doing it..

Amen! There are genuine Christians and there are "nominal" Christians. There are genuine believers and there are make believers.

We are foolish to think everyone in church is saved, we can tell by the NT writers that it was not even true in their day.

He was certainly never caught scripture.
Which begs the question what are they teaching in that church?

I mean, do people even listen to the drivel they spew? Or even read the bible.....HOW much does GOD have to do for us......

God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked
God set the plan in motion to reconcile man and the fallen world to himself BEFORE he created the world
God chose us in Christ before the world was created <--chose to accept and save ALL that believe
God CALLS us with an irrevocable call
God DEALS every man a measure of faith (the ability to believe)
God SAVES US by a FREE IRREVOCABLE GIFT
GOD SEALS US to his KINGDOM by his own SPIRIT
GOD renders us INNOCENT even though we are GUILTY (JUSTIFIES US BY FAITH void of any works or law keeping)
GOD SANCTIFIES us eternally
GOD sent his OWN SON to die on a ROMAN form of capital punishment to pay our sin debt
GOD BRUISED his own SON and by HIS STRIPES we are HEALED
GOD testifies by CREATION day and night and even the invisible testifies
GOD convicts and draws us to HIM
GOD built in a conscience to prick us and convince us of right and wrong
GOD's SPIRIT convinces the world of SIN

I mean.....holy crap....HOW MUCH DOES GOD have to do for men to UNDERSTAND he LOVES all of US and would have ALL men be saved and come to the KNOWLEDGE of the truth.....HE has DONE EVERYTHING possible but ACTUALLY take the step and simply BELIEVE for US!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a thought on this.

Some people know theology and the bible and how to sing/play etc. They know the right words to say on Sunday and what kind of behaviour is expected of them. They can even know how to teach on Sunday school.

The key isn’t if people know the above, it’s whether they know Jesus. Really know Him.

It’s not a bad thing actually to question ones faith and really start seeking answers. It may be a step in the right direction between head knowledge and heart knowledge.

Apparently, this performer has made the statement that he hasn't renounced the faith, but his faith is on shaky ground. So, he has not denied Christianity yet, according to him. We should pray for him rather than attacking him.

I don't think Pentecostal/charismatic theology is sound, and he would be better served by seeking a more sound expression of evangelical Christianity. If Hillsong is one of the groups claiming that miracles are happening left and right at their hands, that would lead to a shaky faith. I have talked to various ex-Pentecostals/charismatics, and there is a level of dissonance they experience due to their organizations' unsupported claims.

Perhaps most of the basis for his worldview is tied up in Pentecostal/charismatic claims, rather than Scripture, and he need to ground himself in Scripture instead.

I know very little about Hillsong except for the child abuse scandal. I am not sure how much they focus upon supernatural claims versus soundly exegeted Scripture.

at the very least, he never understood it
Why does someone place their crisis of faith in the public arena?
These things are done for a reason.

But I agree, it is all speculation and perhaps that is the goal?

Sounds like Oprah. Some people may actually start out believing in Christ, just like they believe in a politician (based on their own misconceptions and expectations) then later find out that Christ does not line up with their original expectations, just like these disciples in John 6 who initially set out to follow Christ, but had a difficult time accepting the words of Jesus in regards to eating His flesh and drinking His blood, then turned and walked with Him no more.

Yup. You got that exactly right!
Okay but have you considered that those in scripture had first hand knowledge of those that left, we can we say the same of this man?

We see this in the bible

Some start believing in Christ, then realise the law was more real to them, so they went to what their true faith was in, The law.

They fell from grace, But not salvation, They fell because they were never rooted in christ to begin with.

I read a memoir about an ex-hillsonger called 'People in glasshouses' some of its pretty shocking. I hope this man comes to genuine faith anyone growing up in a hillsong environment needs our prayers.

As for their songs, I am not really a fan of them. Most of them are performance pieces and no different to secular music, but just have some religiosity thrown in. You could easily fake it in the hillsong church it seems like one of those hyper-grace prosperity cults. Am ashamed that one of its leaders orignally came from nz, although its actually an australian enterprise. Those songs are then distributed to churches all over the world like top ten hits which the churches pay a license to perform....they make their money from sales. Which does not seem to go to any charitible cause but a mysterious church fund i.e pastors own pockets.

Faith in australia seems shaky, I remember talking to a few aussies I met on a cruise ship bible study and many of them said the churches are all divided there and how the worship is very shallow. Its not the first time that a 'worship leader' confesses they dont really believe.
