Have you ever told yourself that it is time to "move on"?
I have, and in all reality I've just stuffed the problem or incident deep down inside so I do not have to deal with it.

The main problem is...we haven't moved on beyond the problem or situation. It is buried!!
I have a buddy who says " I have forgiven the guy", yet he talks about it a lot as if he has not done so.

I have learned that when it is time to move on, to put the problem or situation in the Lord's hands, and leave it behind me and not return to it.

I am in TOTAL agreement. When I come to a place and state"I'M DONE"I meant exactly that,then it's forgiven and forgotten! Blessings HWB 💖💖💖

I just brought this up since several people I know do not seem to get it.
We need to be in a spot where when we put it in God's Hands, it stays there and we do not retrieve it again.
Been there done that!

Hi @Homewardbound, Oyster has a new thread up about being new creatures in Christ, about laying aside the old man and choosing to put on the new instead. So, even though we have now, as Christians, been made His workmanship, and wholly new creatures in Christ, I think our ability to "move on" in the sense that you mean here (as God does .. Psalm 103:8-12, Hebrews 10:16-17, and as He admonishes us to do .. Matthew 6:12, 14-15), depends to a great degree upon the daily renewing of our minds, so that we can know and abide in His will/abide in Him and choose to put on the new man/new self as we are commanded to do ... Ephesians 4:22-24, so that we can leave the past behind us, safely in His hands as you said, rather than allowing our old self to take us back there again.

Our future eternity with Him (without our old nature rearing its ugly head ever again) is an indescribably wondrous thing to consider :)

I like this Deut. Great reply. I think too, we need to determine in our heart to move on.
I find it real easy to just pick up the old stuff and keep moving.
Moving on needs to be a conscious day to day decision to do so. lapsing back to old habits can occur otherwise!

I have heard from several people that you probably haven't moved on completely until you can pray for the person's good. Obviously that can take a long, long, LONG time.

Actually, it's a choice and need not take a long, long, long, LONG time but can be accomplished in less than a minute.

I agree that praying for someone's good can be a good indicator. But to help finish that thought Artsie Steph, our attitude during prayer is the ultimate indicator. On the outside I can pray for someone's good, but deep inside I am not.

Is what they say about burying the hatchet.

Btw what is a hatchet. I looked up in the dictionary its a small axe.

Why would you bury a hatchet. Is it you cut down a tree and vow never to cut down another tree again.
