Was man "born in sin"?

I've read the original text of Psalm 51:5 and came to the conclusion that it states that King David's mother was in sin at his birth, not himself.

Hi @LW97, what was Psalm 51 all about? What was David's purpose in writing it, and what was he principally concerned with in that Psalm (to tell the world that his mother was a sinner)

And I suppose for you that is the end of the story. In fact there is ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE that David's mother was in sin. He was using himself as an example for what is true for all humans -- born under the curse of sin and death via Adam.

The application if "I" is clear enough.....this dude has no interest in truth....every thread he peddles takes obvious truth and twists it so far out of whack while disregarding the inspired words that God sets forth by his servants.....

Well, that would mean that she was in sin just like every other person, wouldn't it?


But David writes over and over about his own sinfulness. Like it's a theme. As tho he is driving home a point.

We are born out of communion with God.

To not be in communion with God is rebellion against Him, sin.
Our natural response to meeting God and His word is cynicism and a critical spirit.

Not necessarily. There were many Hebrews who were living righteously but that did not nullify the fact that they were born as sinners (with an indwelling sin nature), and would also die physically because all human beings are in the same boat.

Jesus himself wept.

If it's "true of all humans" then it's true also of her, an human.

Therefore it is not sinful to weep

David's mother a sinner who fell short of the glory of God all the days of her life was in sin at birth .The wrath of God revealed she had no spirit life that could be raised on the last day as something passed on from flesh to flesh .its His unseen Spirit working in us to both will and do His good pleasure that can give birth to a new spirit that will not die .

The Holy Spirit began his good work of faith in David in the womb planting the spiritual seed of Christ and caused the daily growth .
He informs finishing is better than starting. . just as loving patience outweighs pride .
