Baptism With The Holy Spirit.

Author: Elvis Welber

About 830 BC, God spoke through the prophet Joel who would pour out of his Spirit upon all flesh and this would result in prophetic dreams, prophecies and visions. Joel 2: 28-29. Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and virtue and performed many miracles. Acts 10:38. John the Baptist said that Jesus is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. Matthew 3:11. For God to begin the fulfillment of the prophecy of Joel 2: 28,29, first Christ would have to die and be resurrected and then send the promise of the Spirit upon the believers. John 16: 7. Jesus after resurrecting
He stayed 40 days on earth before ascending to the heavens. He commanded the disciples to stay in Jerusalem because they would be clothed with power. Luke 24:49. On the day of Pentecost, the disciples received the baptism with the Holy Spirit and spoke in other languages. Acts 2.1-4. To be baptized with the Spirit means to be immersed in the power of the Spirit. When a person is baptized in the waters, he is immersed in the waters by the baptizer. In baptism with the Holy Spirit Christ is this baptizing and he immerses the Christian in the Spirit. This wonderful experience will deepen the believer's relationship with God, enable him to do the work of God, bring spiritual strength to face persecution, power to overcome sin, live a holy life and an openness to receiving spiritual gifts for church building .

ALL born again believers in Christ have been Baptized in the Holy Spirit. There are not 2 separate events upon conversion. The Apostles received the Holy Spirit BEFORE Pentecost:
John 20:22 New King James Version (NKJV)
22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

This is correct. Following repentance and genuine saving faith, sinners receive THE GIFT of the Holy Ghost. That is the same a being baptized with (or immersed in) the Holy Spirit. And at the same time, the Holy Spirit baptizes INTO (or places into) the Body of Christ those who were baptized WITH the Spirit.

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38)
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. (1 Cor 12:13)

While the apostles had already received the gift of the Holy Ghost immediately after the resurrection of Christ, on the day of Pentecost they were all empowered by the Spirit and FILLED WITH the Spirit. Which enabled them to speak in tongues, and also enable Peter to preach the Gospel (the Word of God) boldly.

But as we see in Acts 4, ALL THE BELIEVERS WERE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT, but that did not result in tongues, but in speaking the Word of God boldly.

ACTS 4
29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

There is still a great deal of confusion about the Holy Spirit, and that is not necessary.

What about the forgiveness of sin, Being renewed to new life by the spiritual baptism which is in Christ by the HS, The being immersed into his body. And his death? Which produces new birth?

Is it not the annointing of the spirit (the spirit coming into us) which empowers us?

you will find plenty of detractors here

it seems to be a hobby for some to attack anyone who has experienced the baptism in the Holy Spirit

the confusion for them is real and they cannot help it

after all, if it hasn't happened to them, then no one has experienced it

pardon the cynicism, but if you check around you will note the threads where the same people do their best to quash any mention of the Holy Spirit or the gifts unless they call themself teacher or some such. that seems to be acceptable to them

anyway, welcome and praise God for the outpouring of His Holy Spirit!

Finding the truth difficult to accept? In the latter days they will find for themselves teachers who will tell them what they want to hear. They will ignore sound doctrine and follow their heart into the wilderness.

Prodigal children for whom the Father waits.

Now that you are saved, you should ask the Lord to baptize you with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4).

While it is certainly true the Holy Spirit came into your heart and life the moment of your Salvation, still, He now wishes to endure you with power from on high. Consequently, Jesus told all of His followers immediately before His Ascension, that they should "wait for the Promise of the Father" (Acts 1:4). He was speaking of being "Baptized with the Holy Spirit" (Acts 1:5).

You must understand that there is a great difference in being "born of the Spirit" than being " Baptized with the Spirit." They are two different works altogether.

To be "born of the Spirit" is that which took place at your conversion, as the Holy Spirit brought you to Christ and performed the work of regeneration within your heart and life. To be "Baptized with the Spirit" is in order that you may have Power with God (Acts 1:8). Every Believer should ask the Lord to fill them with the Holy Spirit, and expect to receive (Luke 11:13).

well anyway, it is wonderful to note those who are in agreement and praise God that His word is true

always true!

We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.

Confession. When I was broken hearted I closed myself in a room and talked to "You are Wh You Are." He answered me in a dream, and the following day while continueing to "talk" to Him I found myself saying over and over, 2Man is evil, man is evil etc." The as quick as could be it came to me, "Hey, I am a man, part of it, and You re It."

At that instant everything turned to Light and that Light entered into me with the message, "Everything is going to be just fine."

I ran to the Illini Student Union to my very good friend, Shelly, and when he saw me he asked, "What happened to ou,?" Beaming I replied, "God's Spirit came into me, your God, Yahweh." God led me to a Bible though when I piked it up I did not know it. It was face down opened, and Ibgan to read. I could not stop say, "Yes, this is true, yes, yes,." I looked at the top, and it was the Bookof Isaiah. This light blue book was the Oxford Study Bible. The following day I bougth my own at the student bookstore. It was the b egining of my way in Jesus, Yeshua.

It took me to the Rockies summers for three years reading and wharing with anyone and all that would hear me. I always read aloud but not too loud reading to the creation. It had me running a circut betwen Colorad, Wisconsin and Illinois those three years until God told me to go to Israel. I did, andI did what I believed I was to do.

Since then I have waited for Jesus, Yeshua. That began in 1969 on Good Friday of all days. Now I wqit for Him as we all do. God bless you and know Gd does what pleases Him and what pleases Him pleases His children always, amen.

Yes, and you are.

Anoint means to have something pour on or into you

Baptise means to have yourself immersed or placed into something else.

Huge difference

I think some of the confusion may be that some see no difference between the terms “indwelt” and “filled.” We are never commanded to be saved or indwelt/baptized by the Holy Spirit, but we are commanded, as believers, to be “filled,” which simply means to remove our wants and desires and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us. To be filled with the Spirit is a moment by moment choice and not a one time thing. To be indwelt/ baptized is.

Love to read your testimonies Jaume!

The Oxford study Bible is my favorite KJV. The footnotes are full of explanations of the scriptures. 😍

yes, it is exactly what I said.

Yet you claim different.
Ok, am a bit confused on what you are saying here, but we both agree on the blood sacrifice salvation by grace through faith. So will rest on this. Am a bit tired of debate.

By the way, I was only referring to your last line in your first post here. I should of said that.
