We never put God first.

It's as simple as that? That's what my mind is telling me right now. It's something I've often pondered. Through all my mistakes. Through every bad choice and decision I've made. Especially the most recent ones that have just brought this huge grey cloud of oppression over me. It's all simply just because I never put God first. I didn't. I put myself first. I was only thinking about myself. What kind of "Christian" does that?

'You must be born again'.
"Ponder these words carefully with an open heart and mind, for one must have a full
Christian perspective of precisely the purpose and meaning of this requirement, and then
one must know of the necessity that one must be willing to change, and it shall not be
easy, as this requires a life long commitment. You, I and everyone should know with all
honesty, overcoming self and striving for spiritual adherence to God's 'life principles' shall
be untold challenges, and not one of us shall have the human capacity to fulfill such an
order of things that we all need to do." Friendly.png

We all fall short of the glory of God. If your conscience is bothering you, take it to Almighty as only He can restore your peace.

Philippians 4:4 - Rejoice in the Lord alway: [and] again I say, Rejoice.

It appears that Paul was imprisoned when he wrote Philippians, with possibility of execution. Yet he learned to be content whatever. Thinking on such examples usually makes my own temporary problems seem less significant.

Sometimes problems can overwhelm and oppress you even when you do put God first.. But don't be discouraged, just keep pressing forward. Remember, we don't live in a God friendly world and God didn't promise us a rose garden, its a battle from cradle to grave.

One that needs the grace of God as we all do. We have all been in that situation but the good thing is you realise it, now you can change it :)

God bless you.

We must put God first. This does mean we will be perfect, bet it does mean that we will keep doing our best and letting His grace take care of the rest. Do not let the adversary discourage you. Jesus loves us and He knows our frame and our heart. God bless you. You have the potential to be a great overcomer through Christ who strengtheneth you.

Revelation
3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

I would almost argue that every Christian has been in a place of putting themselves first. Absolutely- it causes problems. Does it seem like it should be easier to put God first? Of course! BUT the fact is, that isn't always easy, especially when we are young in the Lord. Things would be so much easier if everyone always put the Lord first. We can pray for Him to help us in this area! God is gracious and now that you know that is an area of difficulty (praise God for showing you!), you can work on it. I pray that this feeling of oppression will leave you as you grow closer to the Lord.

Yes, the more we learn of God and His ways, the more we see we don't fulfill our calling. Once we learn where we fall short, it gives us direction. Change is hard but possible.

I am new here and this is my first and last day. Wow, this site is incredible. First I labored under the misconception that this was a CHAT site (decptive description). I lost a spiritual battle and came here as a last resort. Well, I can take a divine hint. I'm one seed out of a thousand that was THROWN among the rocks and thorns. Thats okay, he's got plenty of others. Good luck with that

This guy or gal jumps on here and makes one post and decides to chuck the site. I wonder what he or she was looking for? The poster refers to himself/herself as shallow (rocks and thorns). I think that explains it for me.

Well welcome! What do you mean your last day? Why? In what sense/meaning? Why did you "labor" for? It IS a chat a site.. You can come here to chat with other Christians. That's pretty neat! Hey! We all lose spiritual battles, but don't worry! Christ has won the war for us! A divine hint? I'm not sure there are such things are there? Why would God give you a hint for anyway? Hey! We're all seeds that were either thrown amongst the rocks or dry ground. Every one of us. But it's not okay! You are worth far far more than your own opinion of yourself! You are loved, immeasurably. You are not some mistake / accident. Your life has intention, purpose, meaning and deep value. More so than I/we/anyone could ever know. Sounds like you're going through a rough trial right now. Hope to see you back on here one day maybe. Stay faithful, God is good!

Hi Prognostic,
I think every single Christian struggles just as you are describing. It sounds as though you are going through a really hard time right now... and it is excellent you are reaching out to other Christians. I appreciate your honesty about yourself.... and I, at 60 years old, still struggle just the way you have described.

It is very important to keep in touch with other Christians, especially Christians who can encourage and help you when you are struggling... and in turn when your fellow Christians struggle, you will have the tools to help them too. We need each other.

We are all broken, and we all make mistakes, and there isn't one of us who stays on the narrow path.

I find it helps me to have a regular daily time for Bible study and prayer. The Bible is amazing! and true! and encouraging, because, even Jesus's disciples made both small and big mistake, for example, Saint Peter was headstrong and said some really stupid things, even to the point of denying Christ 3 times, but look what happens to Peter after the resurecction!

Thank you for your post, it took courage to open yourself up like that.

You are a human being like all of us. Human being acts like humans that's it. There are roads that produce happiness and other madness ... Follow the Christian ones.

Sounds to me like you are at a point of conviction and repentance, it's a good place to be. It means the Holy Spirit is working on you. Now you have confessed, repent and our Lord is gracious and kind and loving and merciful he will forgive you and you will grow and mature and become a better Christian.

I find change is only possible with a surrendered heart. Sometimes people grow a biblical pride and try to change by what they know the bible says instead of allow God to transform and renew their heart :)

I hope the poster who said first and last time is ok. Time for more prayer as we seem to be missing the little hints.
