But the OP has nothing to do with David and Saul. And no matter how hard you try, you cannot apply this Psalm to David, since it is prophetic and Messianic. So let's take a closer look since you think I have not addressed the issue:

THE WORDS OF CHRIST ON THE CROSS IN HIS AGONY AND HIS ANGUISHED THOUGHTS

ROMAN SOLDIERS CAST LOTS FOR THE ROBE OF CHRIST

CHRIST WOULD BE DELIVERED FROM HIS ENEMIES SHORTLY

CHRIST ANTICIPATES HIS VICTORY AT THE CROSS AND IN HIS RESURRECTION

THE PSALMIST EXHORTS BELIEVING ISRAEL TO PRAISE GOD FOR THIS
23 Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.
25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.

THE EARTH'S INHABITANTS WILL WORSHIP GOD BECAUSE OF CHRIST'S VICTORY

28 For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the nations.

For the joy set before Him

Been away for a while, But it was interesting how people have responded.
Jesus is God. No doubt.
Jesus was the lamb of God which makes Jesus our sin offering.
People are debating if the Father and Jesus were separated from each other.

Mat 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Heb 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
Heb 9:23,24,25... 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Bear the sins, yours and mine included. which is good news because sin = death, eternal death.
Rom_5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Rom_5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
We can't have eternal life unless our sins are paid in full,.... unless God is unjust that is?. If God is Just, which He is, our sins are paid for and we can receive the gift of eternal life as a result.
Sin separates us from God. Sin is what killed Jesus because our sins were put on Him and and all the results of sin were placed on Jesus at that time, including separation from the Father. This makes Jesus so beautiful because this was so much more than just a physical death. The pain of being separated from the Father was so deep, which makes His love for you and me so much deeper.

nothing killed Christ. Jesus Himself lays down His own life.

how does one take up their own life after they have laid it down?

i guess that's something you can do when you have an indestructible life . .

And finally Jesus said, it is done.
I think this sentence here has two meanings.
1. The matter of redemption has become true.
2. All the people were saved.

this is evidence of God's love for us

Jesus knew beforehand what he will endure for us

Jesus felt the separation, so he knows what it's like for Christians to doubt salvation

considering that Jesus felt the separation, while he knows that he's about to die, and he know full well what hell is like, yet loves us so much that Jesus willingly go through fears of hell for us

and the sense of separation comes from bearing all the weight of sin upon him, like a wall that can prove that God exist, even if the wall separates

let's meditate on God's love

I agree with all this, but there is a bit easier way to say it in my opinion, but God crushed Jesus for our iniquity, Isaiah 53 tells us pretty clearly. Here is 53:1-11
1Who has believed what he has heard from us?a
And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
2For he grew up before him like a young plant,
and like a root out of dry ground;
he had no form or majesty that we should look at him,
and no beauty that we should desire him.
3He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;e
and as one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4Surely he has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
smitten by God, and afflicted.
5But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.
6All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned—every one—to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him

So the "forsaking", as I understand it was Gods righteous wrath being exhausted on His Sons perfect, and guiltless Spirit, so we might might be justly forgiven and reconnected to the Father as we were created to be, spiritually resurrected and reconciled to Him because Jesus took our punishment. Jesus took the punishment we couldn't pay with our already fallen, dead spirit selves. This "spiritual crushing", was the price we could never pay, the price Jesus was not only willing to lay down His life to fulfill, but the Father was also willing to pour out on His Son, with who He was well pleased, so we might be called His children again, and it pleased Him to do so on all fronts for His glory and kingdom. Praise our KING!!!!! Jesus!!!

I think people forget

Physical death was a result of sin

But spiritual death was the penalty of sin

Jesus died spiritually on that cross. For our sin, The penalty of sin was paid BEFORE jesus died physically. For he said “it is finished” or literally in the greek “paid in full”

If Jesus did not die spiritually (separation from the father and spirit) we are still dead in our sin.
