The Dangers of L.S.D.
LONELINESS:
(definition)
1) affected with, characterized by, or causing a depressing feeling of being alone; lonesome.
2) destitute of sympathetic or friendly companionship, intercourse, support, etc.:
3) a lonely exile.
4) lone; solitary; without company; companionless.
5) remote from places of human habitation; desolate; unfrequented; bleak:
6) a lonely road.
7) standing apart; isolated:
Loneliness is a very real human emotion that most, if not all, people experience at least once in their lives. For those who experience this emotion far more often, or on a regular basis, it can have great harm upon their lives and well being.
There are numerous Scriptures that address loneliness, and I am certain that God never intended for man to be alone, or to suffer this emotional issue. In fact, One verse in particular states this quite clear:
Genesis 2:18 - And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
This Scripture reveals that God is certainly aware of the problem, and concerned enough to act upon His concerns, and provide ways for man to overcome this emotional issue. Other Scriptures reveal the various ways God provides comfort from loneliness.
1 Peter 5:7 - Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Psalms 23:4 - Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou [art] with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Deuteronomy 31:6 - Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he [it is] that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Hebrews 13:1-25 - Let brotherly love continue.
Romans 8:35-39 - Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? (Read More...)
Psalms 27:10 - When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.
Psalms 62:8 - Trust in him at all times; [ye] people, pour out your heart before him: God [is] a refuge for us. Selah.
1 John 4:13 - Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
God assures us that in our very worst emotional times, we are to take comfort in the knowledge that He is always with us, and will never forsake us. In His presence are we to take refuge and solace. We have nothing to fear, nor reason to suffer emotionally, for His Spirit resides within us, and will strengthen and comfort us, and lead us out of the emotional darkness of loneliness IF we give ALL to Him. Surrender ourselves complete to His Will, and He will be our Salvation!
Surely, His providing us with a Church Family is a wonderful way for us to combat this emotional issue. Scriptures show this to us:
Romans 12:10 - [Be] kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
Hebrews 13:1 - Let brotherly love continue.
John 13:34 - A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
John 13:35 - By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
1 John 4:7 - Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
1 John 3:18 - My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
John 15:13 - Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
1 Peter 3:8 - Finally, [be ye] all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, [be] pitiful, [be] courteous:
1 Corinthians 12:26 - And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
If we hold to the message in these Scriptures, they will provide a way for us to overcome the emotional issue of loneliness through sharing our love for our Brothers and Sisters in Christ, and their sharing their love for us. They are a "support system" provided by God, and blessed by God, and His Master Plan is without error.
A second emotional issue that most, if not all, people experience in their lives is sorrow.
SORROW:
(definition)
a : deep distress, sadness, or regret especially for the loss of someone or something loved
b : resultant unhappy or unpleasant state
2 : a cause of grief or sadness
3 : a display of grief or sadness
Sorrow can be as emotionally crippling as loneliness, and have grave consequences for anyone experiencing this issue. God does not want us to suffer such an emotionally dangerous issue, and Scriptures address it as well.
John 16:33 - These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Psalms 30:5 - For his anger [endureth but] a moment; in his favour [is] life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy [cometh] in the morning.
Romans 8:18 - For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
2 Corinthians 7:10 - For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
Isaiah 35:10 - And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
Proverbs 10:22 - The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
1 Thessalonians 4:13 - But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1 Peter 5:7 - Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Matthew 5:4 - Blessed [are] they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
And God gives all His children one great assurance if they remain steadfast in their faith, and receive His precious gift of Eternal Life:
Revelation 21:4 - And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
As with loneliness, sorrow can cause serious emotional issues, and man can receive assistance in overcoming sorrow through the support of his Church Family. One can not overstate the importance of the Church Family to all Gods Children!
A third, and possibly most dangerous emotional issue that some men experience is distress.
DISTRESS:
(defined)
extreme anxiety, sorrow, or pain:
synonyms:
anguish, suffering, pain, agony, ache, .
The most dangerous type of distress is Psychological Distress. This is described as:

What Is Psychological Distress? - Definition & Symptoms ...
study.com/academy/lesson/what-is-psychological...
Psychological distress is a general term used to describe unpleasant feelings or emotions that impact your level of functioning. In other words, it is psychological discomfort that interferes with your activities of daily living. Psychological distress can result in negative views of the environment, others, and the self. Sadness, anxiety, distraction, and symptoms of mental illness are manifestations of psychological distress.
So, no two people experience one event the exact same way. Psychological distress is a subjective experience. That is, the severity of psychological distress is dependent upon the situation and how we perceive it. We can think of psychological distress as a continuum with 'mental health' and 'mental illness' at opposing ends. As we continue to experience different things, we travel back and forth on the continuum at different times throughout our lives.
God is greater than this issue, and prayer to Him can lead to our healing:
Psalms 4:1 (To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm of David.) Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
Psalms 18:6 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.
Psalms 25:17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.
Psalms 107:19 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.
The Scriptures speaking of loneliness and sorrow are just as meaningful when speaking of suffering emotional distress. Reading them, one can see how they provide comfort, and resolution to such an emotional issue.
These emotional issues are common throughout mankind, and I suspect most, if not all, of Gods Children will experience one or more of them in their lifetimes. We should not fear these times, rather turn to Gods Holy Word for our healing! And turn to the Church Family that God has given us for the love and support that will help us to deal with these issues.
Prayer is the greatest weapon we have against the perils of this world! Our personal prayer, and the prayers of our Church Family!
I leave you with these Scriptures from James:
5:13) Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
May God bless and keep you safe, strong, and secure in the knowledge that He loves you, and will never forsake you! Give your all to Him!
