Jesus Himself states that everyone is to be water baptized. And the word shows clearly that it is to be done in Jesus' name. We are continually told that once we believe in Jesus there is life available through His name.

The scriptures you provided and what they speak of:
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
When do we take on His name?

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Again when is the only name under heaven given to men?

2 Cor. 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
God provided the pattern the we follow.

Please share scripture indicating when one receives the name of Jesus anytime other than in water baptism.
Do you see a different between baptised on the name of Jesus and baptised in the name of the father and the son and the Holy Spirit (Matth. 28,19)
Do you believe that a bornagain believer is not saved, because not be water baptised?
Acts 4,12 is not speaking about baptising, but there is no other person under heaven who can save us.

What does the bible teach about those who fall backward slain in the spirit? Are they the same and yest for all that they love the oral traditions of men . Come on Waggles jump into the study will you even look to why God mocks those fall backward ?
I do not know why you keep rabbiting on about being slain in the Spirit and falling over backwards.
My church does neither.
Personally, I believe that the U.S.A has real problems with religion.
It is more an American thing all this chaos, cults, entertainment worship, mega churches, celebrity TV ministers, billionaire ministers, charismatic hoo-haa, dancing in church meetings, gold dust coming down from the ceiling.
Downunder we are far far more sensible. Sober, grave and obedient to the word of God.
We even manage to operate the voice gifts of the Holy Spirit decently and in order.

If you really did this as you claim then you would be same as the first and only church of the first century > Pentecostal.
You do not study scripture much do you? The first century church looked nothing like really any modern day church, least of all your church

You just put another passage of the bible out of context to your Pentecostal claim. Not even signs of speaking of tongue was ever mentioned on the passage. It's about the scripture, Christ and his works of his death, burial and resurrection. Noted also is the none water regeneration being spoken of.

Acts 17
1Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews: 2And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures, 3Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ. 4And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.
Jason Seized
5But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. 6And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also; 7Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus. 8And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things. 9And when they had taken security of Jason, and of the other, they let them go.
Was it not paul who said the most important thing he wanted people to understand was the death and resurrection?

Actually he did preach that believers would speak in tongues …

The Spirit breatheth where he will and thou hearest his voice: but thou knowest not whence he cometh and whither he goeth.
So is every one that is born of the Spirit.
John 3:8
And these signs shall follow them that believe: In my name they shall cast out devils. They shall speak with new tongues.
Mark 16:17
Also says they will drink poison and be bitten by poisonous snakes and not die.

This has been throroughy proven to be not true, because many true believers have died by these things.

So if one is ALL INCLUSIVE< then all must be ALL INCLUSIVE. And if some is NOT HELD TO BE TRUE, then none of it is..

Australia the "Land Of The Holy Spirit" we export biblical Pentecostal revival around the world - Acts 2:38 in action worldwide.
You do not study scripture much do you? The first century church looked nothing like really any modern day church, least of all your church
I googled The Revival Fellowship and Australia and a very disturbing (to say the least) article immediately came up! - https://forum.culteducation.com/read.php?12,1117,1117

For those that may not be aware, there are several extremely dangerous groups promoting themselves to be 'the only way' into the kingdom of God.

They are as follows:

The Revival Fellowship
Revival Centres International
Geelong Revival Centres
Christian Assemblies International.

They all splintered from one man, Lloyd Longfield and the Revival Centres International are now run by his son.

Common characteristics to all groups include but not limited to:-
Extremely bigoted attitude towards other christian groups, even to eachother
Promoting a 'one way' doctrine to heaven
Promoting a 'tongues only' salvation
Promoting racism through British Israel
Promoting Legalism through a huge list of rules
Claiming that all their teachings are Bible Based and that any other christian group is in apostate, including the other groups mentioned
Strong anti-catholic message
Bizzare Paranoid conspiracy theorys about persecution and doomsday prohpecies that are not based in truth
No official training allowed for Pastors or Members
Members are not allowed to fellowship with anyone outside of group unless potential recruit
Members aren't allowed to marry outside of group
Members must live with other members
Spying is encouraged and people must report everything to oversite
Any comments against oversite is labelled 'divisive' and people are disfellowshipped
There have been allegations of sexual abuse and misuse of tithes, Cult leader bought a huge mansion in Melbourne, another from the Revival Fellowship recently bought a very expensive beachfront house in Narabeen (Sydney) despite not working for past 7 years.
Members are strongly urged to cut contact with friends and family
Members are told they are 'not safe' outside the group
Members are strictly forbidden studying the scriptures outside the group
Members are forbidden to discuss the bible without a pastor present
Members are strongly urged to give 10% or more of their income
Members expected to dedicate an extreme amount of time to the group, ie Wednesday night house meeting, Friday night fellowship, Saturday activities and two meetings on a Sunday. Any member not attending all activities is questioned and either disfellowshiped or told to 'clean up their act'.
Ex members shunned by cult members.
Any problems a member has is encouraged to be 'overcome' by intense tounges session and 'guidance' from the Pastor.
Oversite claim to be without sin
Oversite claim to be 'led by the Lord' when making decisions about doctrine or any decision for that matter.
Members are told to blindly 'obey them that have the rule over you' and obey oversite, no matter what the personal consequences.
Members must divorce if their spouse becomes an ex member
High pressure 'Black and white' view
Extreme high pressure witnessing
Zero tolerance for fornicators (Revival Centres International) - fornicators are O-U-T for good 'post spirit filled'
Members must move where there is an 'assembly'
Members not allowed in pubs, even if not drinking
Drinking is not allowed

The list goes on.

Some ex members have committed suicide, and nearly all ex members feel severely lost, depressed, daised, like they've 'left the Lord' (leaving the group is in their eyes 'blasphemy of the Holy Ghost' speaking against the group is 'blashpemy of the Holy Ghost') many refuse to fellowship in other churches, many have nightmares about nuclear devastation. Members are kept in the dark over all financial issues, no-one is accountable for tithes etc.

There is a good website explaining the horrible abuse that goes on in this place, it would be good if anyone could spread the word as I personally have suffered tremendous anguish at the hands of two of the above organisations.

Click here to view more of the devastation caused by these groups that claim to be the only true church since pentecost.

Thank you.

An abridged truncated gospel essentially anti-Christ
Also a complete denial of Romans 6 and 8

A believer becomes a son or daughter of our Father only through the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the Bible evidence of speaking in a new tongue as Jesus himself declared would be the sign given.
9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
Romans 8:

Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom
he has given us.
1John 3:24
So,,, where is water baptism there, even the "speaking in a new tongue"? I know there's a new kid in town.

The scriptures I referenced (including Acts 16:31-33) are all in harmony with your (pet verse Acts 2:38) that you continue to misinterpret. In Acts 2:38, "for the remission of sins" does not refer back to both clauses, "you all repent" and "each one of you be baptized," but refers only to the first. Peter is saying "repent unto the remission of your sins," the same as in Acts 3:19. The clause "each one of you be baptized" is parenthetical. This is exactly what Acts 3:19 teaches except that Peter omits the parenthesis.

*Also compare the fact that these Gentiles in Acts 10:45 received the gift of the Holy Spirit (compare with Acts 2:38 - the gift of the Holy Spirit) and this was BEFORE water baptism (Acts 10:47).

In Acts 10:43 we read ..whoever believes in Him receives remission of sins. Again, these Gentiles received the gift of the Holy Spirit - Acts 10:45 - when they believed on the Lord Jesus Christ - Acts 11:17 - (compare with Acts 16:31 - Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved) BEFORE water baptism - Acts 10:47. This is referred to as repentance unto life - Acts 11:18.

*So the only logical conclusion when properly harmonizing scripture with scripture is that faith in Jesus Christ "implied in genuine repentance" (rather than water baptism) brings the remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:47; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 5:31; 10:43-47; 11:17,18; 15:8,9; 16:31; 26:18). *Perfect Harmony* :)

No mention of baptism and faith is implied or assumed because believing in Christ/faith in Christ for salvation is the new direction of this change of mind in repentance. Two sides to the same coin.

Notice "repentance" (and not water baptism) is in connection with forgiveness of sins and (faith is implied or assumed). Choosing to REPENT and BELIEVE THE GOSPEL is the ACT OF OBEDIENCE that causes us to receive the Holy Spirit. In Romans 10:16, we read - But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” In Ephesians 1:13, we read - In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise. *What happened to baptism? *Hermeneutics. Repentance is already implied or assumed.

Water baptism is not mentioned in Acts 10:43-44 and it's not actually mentioned until verse 47, "AFTER" these Gentiles had already BELIEVED, RECEIVED THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND WERE SAVED.

You need to bold who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ which was established BEFORE water baptism. He water baptized them "AFTER" they BELIEVED, RECEIVED THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND WERE SAVED.

Hear the word of the gospel and BELIEVE. They received the gift of the Holy Spirit WHEN THEY BELIEVED before water baptism. Hearts were purified by faith, not by water baptism. Through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, as Paul stated in Ephesians 2:8,9 that we are saved by grace through faith, not works. In Romans 5:1-2, we read that we have been justified by faith and we have access by faith into grace, not by water baptism.

They said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, not believe and get baptized and you will be saved. The public display here does not matter and no mention of speaking in tongues. What matters is they were saved WHEN THEY BELIEVED (Acts 10:43-47; 11:17; 16:31- perfect harmony) before water baptism.

Notice that forgiveness of sins here is connected with those who are sanctified by faith in Me and not water baptism. Those who repent turn to God and place their faith in Jesus Christ for salvation. Acts 20:21 - testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

"Do works meet for repentance" does not mean we are saved by works. Those who repent "change their mind" and place their faith (belief, trust, reliance) in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. The Bible also tells us that true repentance will result in a change of actions. Acts 26:20 declares, "I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds." This is the fruit of repentance (Matthew 3:8), not the essence of repentance (change of mind).
Belief in Jesus, repentance, water baptism in Jesus name, and receiving the infilling of the Holy Ghost are all components required for salvation as evidenced by scripture. (Acts 2:38-41, 8:12-18, 10:44-48, 19:1-6)
Just because a particular scripture happens to be touching upon one component and silent about others does not mean all are not required. it would be foolish to think that every single scripture would mention all components; the bible would be humongous.
All are sanctified by faith in Jesus and evidenced by one's obedience to the God-given commands.

When one believes in Jesus they will accept His message and submit to the instructions given.

That's all true according to the context sir!
Without understanding and acceptance of Jesus sacrifice in His death, burial and resurrection nothing else is relevant. Believing in Jesus is the core to why people step out in faith and obey God's commandments in relation to His sacrifice.

again you shout your foolish ignorance from the rooftops.
The sign, the evidence, of speaking in tongues when a convert is baptized in the Holy Spirit is not a gift as described in 1Corinthians.
It is you who is sadly uneducated.

actually that is true. apart from the opinions on another posters education, what waggles says here is true

I already posted my thoughts on 'all Christians speaking in tongues' so I won't do it again

Jesus never taught speaking in tongues

He gave a class or 2 about walking on water. were you paying attention?

listen:

Jesus had to return to the Father so the Holy Spirit, also present all through the OT, could descend and fill those who ALREADY believed and endow them with gifts from God Himself

Jesus did many things we do not do. if you run out of food at a dinner, I suppose you just take up something and multiply it?

wait...no you don't? so you are not a Christian then I guess

that is the flip side of what you are saying

the gospel as we know and experience it was not exactly preached by Jesus either.

so should we stop preaching it?

people seem incapable of freedom of thought around here when they are close minded to the FULL gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ

Repentance and belief/faith in Jesus (which results in receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit) are components required for salvation (Acts 3:19; 10:43-47; 11:17,18; 15:8,9; 16:31; 26:18 etc..)

I can see that you are unable to see anything beyond your biased church doctrine. :( It never ceases to amaze me to see how everything that I explain to you in my posts just continues to go right over your head.

Just because a particular scripture happens to be touching upon one component and silent about others does not mean all are not required.
Yes, Amen!

And, just because some scriptures state that they spoke in tongues when receiving the Holy Ghost and some scripture is silent, does NOT mean that they did NOT speak in tongues as the evidence of the infilling. I whole heartily agree with you that such assumptions is foolish.

Here is an example...

Matthew 26:50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus and took him.
Matthew 26:51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear.
Matthew 26:52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

Mark 14:46 And they laid their hands on him, and took him.
Mark 14:47 And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
Mark 14:48 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?

Luke 22:48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?
Luke 22:49 When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
Luke 22:50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
Luke 22:51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him.

Now John gives the same account of this scene, having more detail...

John 18:8 Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:
John 18:9 That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.
John 18:10 Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.

Scripture will always harmonize with itself. Here in John we discover the "one of them" is "Peter" and we discover that the name of the high priest servant is named "Malchus."

Keep up the good work, Wansvic.

God bless!

Because the foundation of the doctrine of tongues is found in Isaiah 28. In order for us to understand what the sign of tongues confirms? We must first look to the foundation. Destroy the foundation of doctrine and like David said in the Psalms; What could those do that to look to the foundation do other than praying ? Should they keep offering them to look. So that they can confirm the sign that came in Acts 2... also a fulfillment of Joel....that coincides men and woman from all nation speaking a new tongue as a manner of prophecy the gospel . Sent them out two by two, with their new tongue.

Thousand heard it as it is written in the twinkling of the eye.

Find what the sign confirms and the rest of the doctrine fits in perfectly.
