Growing up in a Christian home we had a supply of Christian kids shows movies etc.

Some are poorly made and the acting may be terrible but I am fond of them anyway.

Here are a few that I remember;

Davey and Goliath Claymation, I think. Always starts out playing "A mighty fortress"

McGee and Me Series of kids videos about various situations they face and the lessons learned. (Was watching one last night with my son and that gave me this idea.)

Hoomania This is about a kid that ends up in a board game about making right and wrong decisions.

gerbert And this is the orange puppet.

What are others that you grew up with and what do you think of them?

This is an awesome idea for a thread, Krum!

I really wish I had something to contribute. I pretty much exclusively watched PBS as a kid, and mostly Sesame Street at that.

Eventually, we had a station (channel 46!) that had Christian programming, but I was a little older by then and I can't remember much of what they might have had for kids.

However, I do remember a series of records that were some kind of series... Agapeland Records, I believe? that told Christian stories with the help of music.

I remember this particular one as being one of my favorites, which I played until it finally scratched and skipped its way to vinyl heaven.

One of the other cool things about this record series is that some of them were narrated by Dean Jones, the actor from "Herbie the Love Bug" movies, who (at least at the time) was a professing Christian.

Oh yeah! I remember them also. My mom sings the "Have patience " song to the grandkids when they think they can't wait for something. She sang it to us as kids also.

I think we actually have the Music Machine on vinyl.

Another one ,maybe from the same series, is "Nathaniel the Grublet". That one is narrated by Dean Jones.

But this reminds me of another series. "THE Church mouse/Psalty series. These were more books maybe with tapes to listen along to.?

Goodness, yes.

I still find myself singing that tune, "Have patience, have patience, don't be in such a hurry. When you get, impatient, you only start to worry. Remember, remember, that God is patient too, and, think of all the times when others -had to wait for you!" when I'm stuck in traffic, caught in a line at the grocery store, or standing behind a woman who literally takes 10 minutes to order her movie ticket.

As you can see, I just might have played that song a FEW times over, seeing as I can still remember it over 30 years later!

I begged my Mom to buy all of the Agapeland records, so I do remember Nathanial the Grublet as well. I think we only bought 4 records, and I remember there being one that I particularly didn't like (and was very disappointed in), but the rest, I obviously played until they had their last spin. :(

What about "When Herbert was much younger he often got in trouble. Forgetting that he was a snail he did things on the double......."

I've seen more Sesame Street as an adult than I ever did as a kid.

That line about Herbert sounds familiar, but it's been so long. :( I bet that if I listened to those records today though, I would still like them.

The coolest thing about Sesame Street is that it was geared towards the parents watching along with their kids, so it has timeless appeal. I remember as a kid when Big Bird asked something about "How (human) babies were made," Maria looked at the camera as if to say, "HELP!", which I'm sure all parents could relate to, but kids wouldn't even notice.

I especially love their parodies of popular movies and shows. I don't watch Game of Thrones, but I saw that Sesame Street has their own take (Game of Chairs) which I have saved to my "Watch Later' (meaning, someday) list.

I have no idea what Game of Thrones is. And I can honestly say that Sesame Street isn't on my to do list.:)

Although I just recently watched the movie Unplanned. That was very interesting.

hub and I thank God that we didn't grow-up with 'vid-games', but just the 'boob-tube' trash,
and that really was a very big chore to exercise from our impressionable psyches,
after Jesus called us OUT of the WORLD'...

YES! MUSIC MACHINE! My mom played the record then eventually got it copied onto tape for me. She recently bought it on cd for my kids, lol.

But this reminds me of another series. "THE Church mouse/Psalty series. These were more books maybe with tapes to listen along to.?
Psalty! I actually looked that up on youtube not to long ago. I guess there were videos as well as CASSETTE TAPES! I had this one (it was a red casstte, getting worn out, but my son got ahold of it not long ago, he was maybe 2 or 3 then and pulled the ribbon out beyond repair:(-Gotta love youtube, lol) This WAS my favorite! (Can still recall most of it and hadn't heard it in in like 20 years, lol)

LOVE IT! My kids sing it to each other now.

And then there was Bullfrogs and Butterflies. My dad NEVER listened to that (that I know of) when I was growing up. But when they were here for a visit from outta state and mom got the cd for my kids, well lets just say they made him make up for lost time.;)
ok, I'm going to have this stuff on my brain for a while now..... I'm sure more will pop up!

My kids like Davey and Goliath, (the old ones were hard to find on dvd, and I think they made some newer episodes)
I always liked McGee and me!

The line about Herbert may ring a bell because it is from the "Patience" song ;)
