By active, I mean working through people (particularly people in the OT) before the time of Jesus? What do you think?

Another question: Do you believe the Holy Spirit is mentioned in the OT?

Absolutely. Genesis 1:2, "And the earth was formless and void and darkness was over the surface of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters." Also look up and read 2 Samuel 16:13 for yourself. He's all over the place throughout the Bible, do a little homework.

Yes. For example, Psalm 51:11; Judges 6:34 and Micah 3:8.

EPH. 4:4-5-6.
There is one body, and One Spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling;
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, Who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

1PETER 8-9-10-11.
Whom having not seen, you Love; in Whom, though now ye see Him not, yet believing,
you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied
of the grace that should come unto you:
Searching what, or what manner of time The Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify,
when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit are ALL OVER the OT - that is where the NT apostles preached
the Gospel from'...

the point is:
there is only One Spirit and The Spirit of Christ dwelt in ALL of His prophets...

yes on both Questions.

for one to understand the Holy Spirit working in the OT you have to know what He is called. Just as we know God has names in context to His attributes so does the Holy Spirit which we find in the gospel of John 14:17, 26 He is the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth and the Holy Ghost.

In the Old Testament, The Holy Spirit is seen working in Gen chapter 1:2 The "Spirit of God"
the "Spirit of the Lord " Judges 3:10
The "Spirit of wisdom and understanding" Isa 11:2
The Holy Spirit empowers many people in the OT
came upon Samson
came upon Saul
came Upon David
came upon Samuel
came upon Elijah
came Upon Elishia
yes, the Holy Spirit is not only mentioned He is an active part of empowering Kings. judges, Priest, and prophets to do the will of God.

Yes, it most certainly was. I tend to think it mainly touched people externally, but I know that a few people were filled with the Spirit(Saul comes to mind).

If what you say is true then how do you account for 1 Samuel 16:13? I mean did David receive an inactive Holy Spirit? Please read it.

The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity and is God so therefore has always been active along with the Father and the Son.

How could the Holy Spirit be active when all the people of the OT sinned (King David included). Hence, the OT is more an image of the things to come, i.e., Christ! You can believe what you want but this what I believed !

Christ is the Son of God continually without beginning or end of Spirit life. He holds the whole universe together by the power of His word. He actively worked rebuking faithless Cain for the murder of the first martyr, Abel.

He worked in all the ceremonial laws as shadows that preached the gospel before hand and the glory that did follow, the first ressurection reformation . Restoring the government back to when there were no kings is Israel (paganism)The Holy Spirit who was there working in the hearts of born again believers used of that time period as a parable. It had come to a end. The thousands of millions of those who did have the Holy Spirit entered into that holy place .the new heavenly Jerusalem as the bride or wife of Christ.

They received the end of their faith from the beginning just as we do today

Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.1 Peter1;11

Mankind sinned then just as those today .The Holy Spirit did not activate David to rebel against him .He does not temp men to do evil. Deny Christ in unbelief in there sin .

I didn't know this was even a question :)

The Holy Spirit is eternal. He existed and is active throughout time. Before and beyond as well.

Papou I ti snot that we believe what we believe however one does have that right. The Bible which is the authority on the topic says the Holy Spirit has always been Active. Because the Holy Spirit is God who has never ceased to be active because HE is Eternal as God is Eternal. Could you please provide any Biblical support for your belief?

One God, not three. So if one Person was active all of God was active. You can't chop God up into segments.

I'm sorry but what does what your saying has to do with the question? Was the Holy Spirit active in the OT yes or no?

Please support your answer if you choose to.

if thats the case then only Jesus had the spirit being as Jesus was the only one that didnt sin.

and then you have the problem with all the scriptures from the Hebrew bible saying the spirit was active.
1 Samuel 19:23
And he went there to Naioth in Ramah. And the Spirit of God came upon him also, and as he went he prophesied until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

and thats just one of many.

The entire Word as the Bible from Genesis, is given by Jesus Christ through the hands of men.
