Hey Everyone,

This thread is inspired by an exchange I overheard at church this morning:

"Hey Bill, nice purse you got there."

"Thanks. I was going to wear the shoes too, but they didn't quite match."

No, Bruce Jenner doesn't go to my church. And even though I couldn't see the two men who were having the conversation, it was obvious that "Bill" was evidently holding his wife's purse while she was busy helping at the Welcome Booth before church started.

And so, just as a light-hearted, fun thread... I wanted to ask all the guys here how they would feel about holding their girlfriends' and/or wives' purses. For example, would the size of the purse matter? What if the purse was bright pink and Bedazzled with so many gemstones that you could see its reflection from a space satellite? And what if she carries a bag that's big enough to double as a picnic basket -for the entire church potluck?

Ladies, would you want a guy to be willing to carry your purse? Would it bother you if he refused?

This is just meant to be a humorous thread that gets people talking to each other. :)

Just for fun, I'm going to create a poll with some pre-written answers, but please don't let that stop you from posting right here in the thread!

The poll is meant to be humorous and hopefully won't offend anyone. :) The answers will be multiple-choice and anonymous... I was going to make it so that you can see who answers what (to try to get a feel for everyone's sense of humor), but I know that making it anonymous might encourage more people to join in on the conversation. :)

I can't wait to see who's left "Holding The Bag"! :D

Happy posting. :)

Honey, could you please be a darling and carry my M4 for me while I’m trying these shoes on?

I have held my wife's purse on several occasions and was not the least embarrassed or reluctant to do so.

I've held a purse, bought various women's products-even wore a pink bathrobe once, when a lady was kind enough to wash my clothes when I didn't have time to go home and get a change(she did take a picture of me though, to show her sisters).

i thought this was about whether i would carry a purse, in general, and i was going to say no -- because i have one of these:

AH-4169.jpg
so why put a little bag over my shoulder that could slip off if i have to suddenly take some evasive maneuver? my pouch is firmly attached to my belt. these were popular for thousand years, until the invention of pockets. very useful!

but, seeing the poll -- eh, i hold my wife's purse for her without question. and i don't just grip it in my hands like i'm afraid to hold it properly ((you know those types)) -- over the shoulder it goes. :)

Folks,

I really hate to admit this...

But Posthuman carries a cooler bag than I do. :(

Maybe I'll have to write another poll asking if we ladies would date a guy who has a better taste in purses than we do...

All i know is, women make fun of men for how much stuff men carry in their pockets. Then the same women tote around a purse that could house missionaries on furlough.

But sure, I wouldn't have a problem holding the bag while she goes to the bathroom or tries on a new shirt or something.

I draw the line at digging through a purse though. "Hand me my phone, it's in the middle outer pocket on the inner left side." One, I don't go digging through a woman's purse for the same reason I don't let anybody dig through my wallet. Two, I don't go digging through a woman's purse because you could get lost in there.

I have never been asked to hold a purse. But please, by all means, allow me to hold your m4.

Well since I don't have a man to hold my purse for me, I just wear purses that I can wear cross body and keep my hands free. Now it's pretty much just a non-issue.

My sister asked me to hold hers once, i held it just barely by the strap like it was a dirty piece of laundry. She took it back from me rather quickly after seeing how i was holding it.

I don’t even think I own a purse. How sad.

I suspect many married men put all their belongings in the
wife’s purse anyway.

(Here dear can you carry this for me, can I give you the
car keys to save, can I put this in your bag, will my bible fit in your bag etc).

So it’s only right they should take their turn and carry it!

Now my SISTER'S purse, that's different. I would hold a purse for my grandmother, my mother or my wife. I would not hold my sister's purse, or my coworker's purse, or anybody else's purse.

Although I know this as an immutable fact, I cannot explain the reason for it. It's just something that is. Only those three have the right to ask me to hold their purses. And my wife is hypothetical, so currently only my grandmother and mother have that right. And my mother is very self-sufficient, so only my grandmother uses that right, and only because she's kind of feeble these days.

I think it's sweet to see a guy helping his wife by carrying her purse/ diaper bag (if they have babies) or whatever else . I've seen so many men carrying their wives purses and I've been that person to say "Hey brother I like your purse!" Only to have him say back " Thanks sister, I feel like it really sets my outfit off !" :) I appreciate a man that can take a joke .

Yes.

My SO has done it many times when I’ve handed it to him. No protests.

It doesn’t take away from his masculinity in any way. It makes me laugh a little and it’s just adorable.

I’ve dug through his wallet. He’s dug through mine to help me find stuff. He’s carried my cards and keys when I decide not to bring a purse.

Once I handed him a jacket because it was too hot and he tried wearing it to make me laugh. Of course he couldn’t fit in and I was scared it might stretch.
But it’s just those little things.

When I snicker at him holding my purse or tease him about it, he strikes a pose and quips how it matches him better.
He takes his own revenge in other ways. Teasing me in public or doing something silly like running away with my things. (-___-)

He makes me laugh a lot :) .
