Hello Ambie, your name is endearing. Welcome aboard. I am sorry to read you are struggling but so pleased you are wanting to grow in Him. I honestly believe He is the way. You know, of course, drinking goes hand in hand with depression and with low self worth. He is so much more than "feelings". Don't get me wrong, I have a drink, now and again, but think His way is the sober way. I say if you can't say no to things, than you do not get to say yes. Well enough soap boxing you. Glad you are here, truly, and look forward to seeing you around.

Hello Ambie, welcome to Christian Chat. I hope you'll enjoy your stay here. There are many here that had battles with substance dependence. Alcohol was my poison. God can and will deliver us! Praise Him!

Hi Ambie, WELCOME! Do you mind if I ask why you're so quick to label yourself an alcoholic? The reason I ask is because, among some church folk...., if you drink AT ALL then you're an alcoholic. If it's too personal too fast just say so :) It's a fairly mixed bag here so I'm sure you'll find a place to fit right in. Again, Welcome.

Hello Ambie, and welcome to CChat. I'm glad that you found us and decided to join us :)

I'm sorry to hear that you've been struggling with alcoholism and depression! I've prayed that God will see you through both of those to better and healthier days in the future.

Also, when you told us that you are, "not feeling good enough", did you mean physically, mentally, emotionally .. or spiritually?

Thanks!

God bless you! (Numbers 6:24-26)

~Deut
p.s. - as for advice, it would be, trust God, and always take Him at His word (no matter what you may be feeling in the moment), remembering how much He loves you and wants the very best for you as His child, and that He knows what you are going through and has allowed it to happen (whether it seems good or bad), because He has a purpose in all of it .. e.g. Romans 8:28; Philippians 1:6, 2:13.

1 Thessalonians 5
23 May the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

Hey! thank you so much for the welcome, And to answer your question, I'm pretty much addicted to drinking. I drink every night sometimes during the day if I'm off work and I have been for about 4 years now. I don't feel like I can have a normal conversation without drinking. Once I have one drink I have to have another. I feel very anxious without drinking but I hate drinking at the same time.

Thank you for the prayers Deut! and the welcome!
I meant that I don't feel good enough physically, mentally, and spiritually.
I have been put down by people all my life and I am now at the point of not having hope anymore. I sometimes don't even feel like I am enough for God if that makes sense I am not sure how to explain. I guess I just feel unworthy

Well Ambie, if you wait until you are good enough to serve God, you will never get there. Why do you think the song "Just as I am" was coined? None of us are good enough for God's mercy, but He gives it anyway.

Isaiah 43:25, 26
"I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified." :)

"Over two decades ago, I had a serious daily drinking problem...then I hit the bottom of the barrel...
physical and mentally...MAKE NO MISTAKE...A FEARFUL PLACE TO BE!...and believe this, sooner or later,
you can experience the same...or worse, as many succumb to alcohol...cunning, baffling and powerful...
without help I would not be putting these words before you...believe it! It is with much hope and a prayer
that a 'light' comes on and things change. I learned family and friends suffer greatly from EMOTIONAL
STRESS...witnessing a close one destroy everything around them...it leaves an emotional scar that
never leaves!"
'Praise God'...........:)

Welcome aboard Ambie :)

And don't you worry about feelings of not being good enough.. Fact is where God is concerned no human being is good enough.. Thats why we all need to trust in the Atonement of our LORD Jesus Christ to be deemed good enough..

The more we think about how unworthy we are the more we think about the things we do that make us feel unworthy.. And the more we think about those bad deeds and thoughts the more we tend to think those thoughts and do those bad deeds and then we get even more depressed as we think about it all over again..

Best to try and spend your time thinking the best thoughts you can and imagining doing those good deeds that make us happy to be us..

Philippians 4: KJV
8 "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

Grab control of your mind when you are dwelling on the bad things and strive to think about good things..
