Ten Questions, Broken Down: What is Your Favorite TV Show?

Hey Everyone,

I'm going to go a little nostalgic for this one, because I want to ask what your favorite shows were both as a kid and now, and why.

* Did/do you like a certain show because you can relate to the characters, plot, or time period (are you into history, etc.)?

* Do you ever imagine yourself as being a character in the show? Which character and why?

* Are you going to be devastated when your favorite show ends? (Or were you, if it was a show in the past.)


As a kid, one of my favorite shows was Airwolf, which was about a super tricked-out helicopter and the secret missions its team was assigned to carry out:



I was just a kid back then, and mostly, I just wanted the pilot to be my boyfriend so we could fly around in that sweet chopper and randomly blow things up. Well, it SEEMED like an ideal date... when I was like 10. (Actually... my adult self still doesn't think that would be too bad of a date now. I wonder if we could find a fast-food restaurant with a fly-thru window...)

As for a current show, a friend got me hooked on Season 1 of Westworld, and one of the reasons I started watching it is because it starred the one and only Anthony Hopkins (aka, Dr. Hannibal Lector.)

But the other reason is because it's about robots who are made to look human and eventually develop their own consciousness. I find these themes interesting because in the show, when the robots confront their creators, it always makes me wonder what God is thinking when we, as His creations, come to Him with our concerns about how and why we are made.

So that's a little about what I've liked, and why...

Hmmm... I think Arrested Development is probably my favorite show. It's pretty funny, and rewards repeat viewing. A lot of the jokes built off of each other over time. That probably made it hard to watch first run, but great for binge viewing. Season 4 and 5 aren't as good, but season 4 has some of my favorite recurring bits like the sad Gob "Sounds of Silence" bit, and "I broke my skull in 4 places".

The family kind of reminds me on my own in a lot of ways, thought mine isn't as eccentric. I saw a best of "Lucille" and it hit me how much like my own mom she is, if my mom drank.

I've had a few favorites over the years. Battlestar Galactica (original and remake), Vikings ( two seasons was enough for me), Falling Skies, Star Trek TNG, Downton Abbey, etc

I like good science fiction.

I got hooked on Downton Abbey by accident.

How does one "accidentally" get hooked on Downton Abbey, pray tell???

I watched that first episode out of curiosity, and was immediately hooked. I wanted to be there, on staff, in suit and tie...

Growing up, dad was always into sports and wrestling, the entertainment one (formerly known as WWF, now WWE).

So WWE was one of the tv shows/programmes that my sibs and I use to watch.

Now, I’d watch a variety tv shows when I can such as Brooklyn 99, GOT, and anything that looks funny. I do occasionally like watching Documentaries about the Bible and watching testimonies.

When I was a teen, I was a TV junkie. I watched every episode (as far as I know) of Magnum P.I., MacGyver, and LA Law, and many episodes of many other shows (including Airwolf... though second season stank in comparison to the first). All told, I probably watched thousands of hours of TV in a ten-year period. I'd watch hockey when I was little, but lost interest as a teen. Formula 1 racing was much more accessible then, so I'd watch when I could.

In my third year of university, I stopped cold turkey, and didn't watch TV at all for months. When I moved out from my folks' place, I didn't even own a TV for five years. About ten years ago I got into watching a couple of series on DVD, but it hasn't become the habit it was thirty years ago. I now have a 50-inch black box on the wall that gets used once in a while.

I was glued to the TV every night for 'Johnny Carson'. I would even take my phone off the hook. I still watch reruns.
Now it seems most of my fav shows are from England. All the Agatha Christie movies, Bargain Hunt, Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, and now binge watching some old English/Welch who dunnit mystery series.
Oh, and then there is of course 'Columbo'.
Tops of course is 'TBN' I've been watching for many years plus my weekly online Church.

Whatever I'm currently watching on Amazon prime. I don't know if anything is quite favorite but what I've rewatched the most is Horrible Histories because it's humorous and educational (if a bit juvinile because it's a kids show) entertainment.

I gotta go for Star Trek: The Next Generation. All the introspection of the original, without the incredibly cheesy special effects and highly stilted acting. ST:TNG was more than flat entertainment. It always had something to say, and usually said it well.

As for modern TV shows: wots a tv?

When I was a child, one of my favorite shows was Rat Patrol-guys riding around in a jeep with a big machine gun shooting stuff-couldn't get much better than that.

Now, my favorite show is The Walking Dead(over until October) I also enjoy Into The Badlands.

Who is left on the Walking Dead? I gave up on the show a few episodes into season 7. I did really enjoy it until the 4th season or so.

From the 1st season? I believe it's only Carol and Daryl.

My favorite shows as a kid were probably MacGyver and The X-Files. I only saw a couple seasons of The X-Files before I went away to college. I've tried watching both of them in the last few years and they just seem so...bad. Is it just me?! Me and my best friend from high school both wanted to go into the FBI from watching that show. We both went to college for Accounting for that reason. It was one of the primary tracks to get in. Needless to say, it never happened.

My favorite show of all time is probably Monk. He's such an awesomely, unusual guy. I can be a little OCD myself so I can definitely relate. Honorable mentions would be NCIS and Numb3rs ( I'm a Math guy ). So many people have left NCIS, it's just not the same.

I don't know that I had a favorite TV show - I was much more into video games as a kid. Though recently, I did like watching My Hero Academia. It's an anime set in a world where 80% of the population has some sort of super power, and the main character Izuku Midorya doesn't have one. He gets accepted into an academy known for breeding heroes and the story kind of unfolds from there. I've related a lot to Izuku in the early episodes, and I like his drive to push through and his level-headedness in some situations.

I also really liked the first season of Rurouni Kenshin. I'm not even a big anime guy, but those are the shows I've really watched. I haven't tried much of anything else.

Oh man I loved Arrested Development. Job/Gob was probably my favorite character. Didn't like the comeback season that much though. Was really disappointed that they didn't just pick up where they left off.

My favorite show as an adult was Dexter (the serial killer, not the kid on nickelodeon lol), and Breaking Bad was a very close second.

As a kid it was CHiPs. I still would love to be a motorcycle cop hehe. Believe it or not, each episode was actually based on real events.

Oh man, how did I forget Adam-12. Even at 1st grade I was hooked on that show. That's probably why I liked CHiPs so much..
