GM to Trump: 'To be clear,' the company and UAW will decide fate of Lordstown plant.

Excerpts:

GM responded late Sunday to a series of angry tweets from President Donald Trump demanding that the automaker reopen or sell a plant it recently closed because of shifting customer demand.

"To be clear, under the terms of the UAW-GM National Agreement, the ultimate future of the unallocated plants will be resolved between GM and the UAW," GM (GM) said in a statement, referring to the United Automobile Workers union.

Trump tweeted Sunday evening that he spoke with GM CEO Mary Barra about the affected factory in Lordstown, Ohio. Trump said that he "asked her to sell it or do something quickly" but that Barra "blamed the UAW Union."

Trump has repeatedly attacked GM and personally criticized Barra since the closures were first announced — perhaps in the hope that the giant carmaker would give him a political win by reconsidering its plans.

GM said in its statement Sunday that its main focus was offering employees jobs in other plants "where we have growth opportunities."
"We have now placed over 1,000 employees from our unallocated plants to other GM locations, and we have opportunities available for virtually all impacted employees," it added.

Earlier in the day, Trump accused GM of letting the United States down and claimed that "other much better car companies" are coming to the United States "in droves." He may have been referring in part to Toyota's (TM) announcement last week that it would make a roughly $750 million investment across five of its existing US plants, adding nearly 600 new jobs, which Trump celebrated on Twitter.

On Sunday, Trump also criticized David Green, the local UAW president at GM's Lordstown plant, labeling him a Democrat.

Green didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Back in the 60's I read an interview with the president of Volvo who was asked why their cars lasted so long over here, he explained in Sweden there are not as many paved roads as here in the u.s. and no speed limits, also the average car owner only liked to trade every 10 years, so they needed to make a car that would last 10 years.
Right at that time GM determined THEY wanted Americans to trade every 3 years so they tended to make cars with that time span without major problems, "planned obsolescence" was
the name of their game, setting themselves up for the problems they are having now. Also American auto makers have way too many highly paid executives, and notice who Mary Barra blames?
GM agreed to the contract, if it was a bad contract why did they agree? Sounds like high speed buck passing by poor leadership.

That's what we are told would take place in these last of the last days, when peoples hearts are hardened, they will only be concerned about themselves and their own and not live as Christ modeled for us, seeking the highest good of others and doing what He could do to meet that need.
There a brothers and sisters who need to support their families.

Market forces change, which invariably affects people involved in manufacturing, supply, shipping etc.

If you don't want to lose a job you can't always set up a funeral bizness.

The Lord has provided every job I have had, and in a most gracious and wonderful way showing Himself strong in each one.
what He does for one He will do for another, if we give Him FIRST place.
We were never intended to "love the Lord your G-d with all your heart, all your souls and all your mind, on Sunday only".

Just so you're not misleading anyone, GM did pay the TARP (taxpayers) money back ahead of schedule. only the money was TARP dollars GM didn't use. They did everything they would've done under bankruptcy (remember all the dealership closures no one counted as unemployed people?) and stuck the Feds with 61% of GM stock that lost ALL it's value. That's how GM rolls and that's how they pay back. We bailed the GM pensions. Did anyone happen to help us with our retirement funds? Don't think so. But all the while they bragged they paid back their loan. Don't mislead, man. It's unbecoming.

You mistreat a lot of people here, and ignore the comments you can not defend, and/or emotionally can't deal with.
