Can anyone help explain Prov. 14.23? How have you experienced this? Appreciate all replies, thanks.

Maybe it means if you work hard you'll make money, but if you stand around talking, you'll end up poor?

I think the balance of the verse explains the beginning.

Proverbs 14:23
English Standard Version
In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.

New American Standard Bible
In all labor there is profit, But mere talk leads only to poverty.

Work and you earn a wage, stand around talking and you get nothing.

Thank you. There was a site i used to go to for discussions and exhortations on practicing the Proverbs, but cannot find time to locate it now.

talking and not laboring for Christ will definitely lead one to poverty of some kind -

the scripture tells us to be 'not only hearers of the Word, but doers' -
for Faith without Works is 'dead'.
