Imho... I believe all the attributes of God are His regardless if we pray or not. He is a healer, a comforter, a cleanser, a miracle working Diety, with or without our participation. I do agree all kinds of things can enduce temporary stress relief. Meditation using the third eye stuff vs meditating on the word, for example shows the difference. One has God and His living word present connecting with the true Holy Spirit, the other just uses a "mind trick", a tool that taps into something God created. I say anything truly good, no matter what, is a gift from Heavenly places.
James 1:17
Everything good comes from God. Every perfect gift is from him. These good gifts come down from the Father who made all the lights in the sky. But God never changes like the shadows from those lights. He is always the same.
Now the devil is a pesky creature that mimics good, so I believe those who are finding direction, strength, or any so called truths outside of the One and only true God are deceived.
We were given the gift of life so that we can worship, commune and connect, with God, so prayer is a blessing He gives that allows communication, peace of mind, hope, strength, power, so that He can shine His Glory. His works produce more faith, which produce more of His Glory, from glory to glory.
Do other avenues get us to that place? I say not authentically, because that place is God; and we know the only way to the Father is through Christ. In Jesus name, is the key ingredient, the way, the truth, and the life, that propels us to God.
I think He gives us tools, besides prayer, that also gives us peace of mind. I don't always practice it, even though I have seen its truth...
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:8-9 NASB
Clearly, He created us to think true, healing, empowering and renewing thoughts.
