It's the Gender Exchange Thread!

Hey everyone,

Some talk in another thread about men who carry sewing kits (which is AWESOME!) got me thinking...

* What kinds of things do you do that are "normally" seen as something done by the other gender?

* What talents/skills have you been told that you do "really well" "for a guy" or "for a girl"?

* Who taught you how to do said skills? Was it from a member of the opposite gender?

It could be anything from cooking and sewing to playing sports, working with power tools, or even climbing trees.

I also realize that in modern times, the idea of what was once strictly thought of as being "for girls" and "for boys" might be more overlapped than ever before (which I personally really like, because who doesn't need a variety of skills to make it in today's world?)

But I have known a few guys who never "bothered" with cooking, cleaning, or housework because it was considered to be strictly "women's work", as well as women who were completely reliant on a man to pay the bills or balance a checkbook. I'm certainly not saying that this is necessarily wrong, I'm just saying they found life to be extraordinarily challenging when they didn't have someone to cook, clean, or manage money for them.

* What are some life skills that you believe everyone should know a little bit about, regardless of gender?

I know that the title of this thread might be seen as a little controversial at first glance... which is one of the reasons why I chose "OutWrite Trouble" as my CC moniker. Every now and then, we might have a poster who just reads the title and comes in with spiritual guns blazing, all because they only read the title and not the actual post to know what the discussion was really about.

And... Why yes, folks, this is how exciting my life really is--that I can actually find something like that amusing.

So... Please make my life a little more exciting by contributing your thoughts (and skills) to this thread.

I have never seen "The Notebook".

I'm generally not one for "chick flicks" and it was one of those movies that absolutely everyone was talking about, so as a strange sort of social rebellion, I've just never watched it.

However, after reading your post... I may just have to reconsider.

I bake sourdough bread (and basically live off the stuff) and for some reason people seem to think baking bread is a woman's task. I don't get it - male bakers are a part of history. Most of the bakeries I know of have a little old wrinkled man in the back making the food. I've seen guys baking stuff in lots of movies, TV shows and books. But for some reason people think it is odd that I'm a guy who bakes bread.

To those people I say YOU WON'T GET SO MUCH AS A SINGLE CRUMB! Go buy your spongy, gummy, floppy store loaf bread. You ain't getting a slice of sourdough, not one single paper thin slice. So there!

well, idk how to cook (someone is going to disagree with me on this lol!)

Sorry for being a busy-body mother-in-law... but you DO know how to cook. Everything you make turns out perfectly delicious!

GENDER is a political far left term.
They have obviously indoctrinated Christian's too with this satanic idea. That we would use or endorse the use of this word.
We have a sex. It is male or female. That's it, as far as I know.
If there is anything I missed in the bible regarding this, please let me know.
