And the Lord said Go!

I'm trying to think of a scripture that I read a long time ago when someone asked the Lord whether they should go up somewhere and the Lord simply said "Go up."

Anyway, for years now I've tried my hand in many ways to have myself more than a warehousing job, not that I look down on it, just that ive been wanting something different because that's been mostly my working life experience.
All my efforts failed. I either got discouraged or gave up or was put back to the same place where I began. Each time I asked the Lord what to do and was met with silence. Either silence or impatience on my behalf lol

But late last year...
A position came up in my company for I was currently studying for through my company and I applied for it. Then one morning in January sometime in between waking and sleep, I heard the Lord speak and had a feeling in my spirit that I can only describe was my time was up in the warehouse. It was quite remarkable.
That morning I went to work and there was an email inviting me for a job interview. Hallelujah!

Fast forward, I start this new position on Monday

It seems like, even though it takes time, a lot of things fell into place for this to all happen.

My question is, how should we perceive 'silence' from the Lord when we ask for direction? I'm almost thinking now it is to stand until such direction is given.. Even if it is years.

It may all be case by case, sometimes we move forward 'in faith'?
I can see examples when Israel moved forward without God's direction and utterly failed.

What do you all think?

Pretty specific direction lol

One day, while studying the Word in the Rockies, I was puzzled about something. I was musing over the fact that three different people had tried to coax me into going to Israel, each separaqtely in different parts of the country.

I love to traqvl so, thinking the enmy may be attmpting to coax me into tmptaqtion Isimply asked the Fagther if I should go to Israel.

Now I did reaqd theWod avidly but I did not reaqd the Ot as much as th NT because I was led to rea both but the NT most. Actually i HAD ODNLY REA the Ot onece or twice skipping some of it to get to other things I was looking for.

I sked in prayer, You truly want me to go to Israel I will open the Book and you show me.

I opened the Book to thaqt passage, having not really read in thaqt particular area but once.

It gets orse. In prayer also asked if I should go I did not want anyone else to help me but You, Father. I would like to get a jop, maybe driving a truck like my Father did, if it is ok with you.
Later thaqt day, fon't laugh, I was out picking wild rose hips on the highway a few miles from my campsite. A truck stopped, and it was the post man. I knew him, and dhe yelled out, "Hey Jack, do you want a ride back to your campsit?" Of course I did.

On the way my friend was sharing his psroblem with me. He wanted totake off thesummer but did not want to lodr hid j jon.I volunteered me for the summer, so I wnt to work the next day on this Ward Star Route, seven towns and some box to box deliveries.

I managed to find a room in Golden, Clorado, on East Street...……. By oCTOBER i HAD ENOUGHT TO TAKE AND iCELAndic bargain flight from New York to Luxembourg. From there I hitched to Greece hopping a cargo vessel to Haifa...……..I spent six months there on a kibbuts in th eegev close to Hebron, Kibbutz MIshmar HNegev… Guardian of the Negev……….

Now those three different peple who wanted me to go to Israel were the following, my very good friend, Shelly, at the University of Illinois, my alma mater, and this is the weird part. He aske, "When Moira and I get married would you come with us on our honeymoon to Israel?"
The next offer in Chicago was anold friend who just wanted to send me to Israel.
The third was a person with whom I had been sharing th eWord for a couple of years. Because of my constaqnt bother he and his wife reconciled, and they later worked to send the Word by radio to countries in th Caribena.

The first two peple were Jews and the third was descended of Jews...……….YOu tell me, IS THAT NOT ALL A BIT ODD TO NON-BELIEVERS

Here God says go up and thousands are killed. Then again He says go up and they have victory.

Just previous to this they ask who should go first, and God says Judah, and thousands of the men of Judah are killed.

So you have them being told to go three times, even when the first two times end disastrously - and even the victory is disastrous because they are going up to destroy their own brothers - they weep in victory. It's a very difficult and complex part of the scripture to comprehend and demonstrates that we've really got to dig deeper into scripture to understand it, more than just picking a verse out like a bumper sticker and randomly applying it to our lives

- not trying to comment on your situation just kind of expressing disappointment with the bulk of teaching and preaching i tend to hear, and hoping to to encourage us to really take a deep look at the Bible as something really worth lifetimes of study...

Judges 20:23-28
The Israelites went up and wept before the LORD until evening, and they inquired of the LORD. They said, "Shall we go up again to fight against the Benjamites, our fellow Israelites?" The LORD answered, "Go up against them." Then the Israelites drew near to Benjamin the second day. Then all the Israelites, the whole army, went up to Bethel, and there they sat weeping before the LORD. They asked, "Shall we go up again to fight against the Benjamites, our fellow Israelites, or not?" The LORD responded, "Go, for tomorrow I will give them into your hands."

Every job change I've had I can look back and see His hand in me telling me the old one is ready to pass, as well, preparing me for the next thing He means for me to do. Sometimes I have been attuned to it in the moment and sometimes not, but He is always working in us
