I have a sister friend that I have had since we both were 3 and a half years old. My dad was a preacher; her dad was the worship leader. She is the safest friend I know.

She has shown me what true safety means, by always pointing back to Him. Safety that she wears so well isn’t one centered on telling ppl what they want to hear. She will counsel and admonish, standing in His victory and His truth, but with it she always points to Him in the content and in the delivery. Her gift of mercy has encouraged my faith many times. She is such a gem, a true gift from God. I am so grateful.

I had a friend named Lori. We hitch hiked out west together almost forty two years ago. After decades, we lost touch with each other as our lives moved in different directions. I found out on her birthday last year that she had recently passed away. I still remember my puzzlement when she told us she had been baptized... because none of Christianity made any sense to me all those years ago. I hope she was truly saved, if not then, since then.

Wow, you must have so many memories. Oh I hope, also, that she was saved. I lost touch with my Lori too for awhile and would be sad to know she passed. So, I am SO sorry, Magenta. I guess this is another aspect of our union with Christ...we will have Him and His friendship right there with us ALWAYS.

Do you have some really close offline family in Christ, Sister Magenta?

I had a playmate too, who lived across our house when we were small. After they moved not too far away, we still saw each other... until I learned she has become a Christian too. Every time we see each other and meet some other people, she introduces me as her playmate.

With her teacher's busy schedule, we hardly see each other for 'dates,' but once in a rare while, we bump into each other on campus or just outside and have a short chat on the roadside. I look forward to a longer lunch talk, or maybe one day I will go to her Consultation period in school, if that will allow for a longer chat=).

Thank you, and yes, I do, Charli! :) My church family is wonderful, and I am fairly involved with various support/outreach endeavors, in a very simple way, attending community groups and helping out at Alpha when I can (it is running now, I love the presentations). My closest sister is also a born again Christian, and it is wonderful having that level of sharing added to our life-long association. We were brought up Roman Catholic, though as far as I know, most are non-practicing except for my oldest brother. Both he and my mother questioned why I was getting baptized when I became Christian in 2004 (LOL)… for unlike them, I did not accept the validity of my infant baptism. Repent and believe and be baptized is the formula given in Scripture :)

Wow presentations. Your life sounds so full and rewarding. Thanks for sharing. I really appreciate it. Interesting that you too have done a lot of rewiring, from your upbringing. I understand that.
