You dont get it

We are not told to confess our sins for Gods sake but for our own.

Thats how we find healing, not confessing your sin to god and others lets you live in the dark, god calls us to be open

You still think god needs you to do something to pay for your sin, news flash, he paid it all.
1 John 1:9 (KJV)
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

i think you totally missed my point....

if the prodigal son had died in the hogpen he would not have been saved

when Jesus gave the parable he said "my son is LOST and is found" "Dead and is alive again"

a dead son, or a lost son, is not better than no son

he had to come to himself and come back home, the father did not go get him
maybe i am. but i think this is the point --

and it's time for post to eat and sleep and stuff.

cheers

See M,

This is why I didn't want to answer your post and really I shouldn't have.
I spent time writing to you this morning.

Why don't you answer my post to you instead of being insulting in a coy way.

Posters here just do not like answering questions or posts.

Maybe because they don't have an answer.

@Magenta
How is quoting what you said an insult to you? I do not expect an honest answer from you. You twist this way and that and then wonder why people do not wish to engage you. In one hour this thread can expand by many pages. Perhaps I simply have better things to do than read so much nonsense. Please excuse me. My life is calling.

If you say a little white lie, if you now to do right and do not do it, your just as guilty as these brother hating murderers.

I am sorry man, you have a skewed idea of what sin is and the penalty of said sin.

Yep,

Forgive not as in restore salvation, but as in restore our fellowship

Salvation was taken care of on the cross

Have you looked at john 6 yet?

I had stated that if it weren't for the catholic church we wouldn't be here talking right now.

You seem to have forgotten the part where the scripture was kept from the people, it was Martin Luther that freed the written word from the clutches of an oppressive, false, power and money hungry institution, I cannot even call is a church!

No more than white liars or couch potatoes who know good but dont do it

Ps, christians do not hate their brothers. We may not love all of them the same, but we do not hate,

Do you?

Look up 1 john 3, he who sins has never seen god.

I am Pointing out that the Arminians for the most part, have a twisted, idea about what OSAS is beliefs are about, and it is a Pervertion of what we REALLY BELIEVE.

It is NOT that now that I have BEEN SAVED, I can do what I want.

When we Receive JESUS AS LORD, that very MOMENT, we KNOW that LORD means a MASTER that WE WILL TOTALLY SURRENDER TO ALL THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES, because we LOVE HIM. We were Predestined, that we WILL BELIEVE, and GOD IS IN CONTROL, and all of our choices for the most part will be GODLY Choices. Sure the sinful flesh gets in the way, now and then, but when we walk in the Spirit, our dominate characteristic will be to do what Pleases HIM. That Victory over sin, is a Victory in that SIN will no longer dominate our Lives, while instead a lifestyle of doing what Pleases HIM. It is a Struggle at first, but as we MATURE it will get easier and easier, to WALK AS JESUS WALKED. You doubt that Jesus is in Control of YOUR Choices ? Let me show this to you in Scripture:

Romans 8:28-30 (HCSB)
28 We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.
29 For those He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.
30 And those He predestined, He also called; and those He called, He also justified; and those He justified, He also glorified.

Romans 8:31 (HCSB)
31 What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

Romans 8:37-39 (HCSB)
37 No, in all these things we are more than victorious through Him who loved us.
38 For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things present or things to come, ⌊hostile⌋ powers,
39 height or depth, or any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!

Philippians 1:6 (NASB)
6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

WE WILL CONTINUE TO STRIVE TO OBEY OUT OF LOVE FOR HIM, not because of our own efforts, BECAUSE OF HIS EFFORTS.

Most PEOPLE that believe in the OSAS theology, believe that very thing.

HOW DIFFERENT IS THAT, THAN WHAT YOU USED TO BELIEVE OSAS STOOD FOR?
Thanks for taking the time to clarify what you are trying to say. I agree with you about what you say about OSAS. I have interacted with enough people that believe in OSAS to agree that what you say it true. Most people who believe in OSAS also believe discipleship is important and that one will do works as a result of God's love at work in the heart, etc.

On the other hand, I will say this: most people who do not believe in OSAS believe like I do that a person is saved by the grace through faith and not of works. Works are then done because of our love for God and in response to His work in our heart. Now let me ask you: Did you know that? (Or, do you think like many on this forum and otherwise that all non-OSAS people teach a works based salvation?

I accept what you say you believe. Will you accept what I say I believe?

Thanks for a wonderful reply.

I do want to say two things.

1. You shouldn't hurry yourself with God. It sounds like you might be a fairly new believer. I've been here about 40 years (not this thread! Although it feels like it at times) and it's the only reason I'm able to be here at all. I know Who I know and am secure in my salvation and in my theology.

2. I don't know what you mean by spending time with Jesus. You must mean prayer time.
I don't think of it like that anymore. Jesus will become a part of your life. You won't have to spend a lot of time with Him because what will happen is that you'll take Him with you wherever you go and He'll be right there beside you all day long.

But I know what you mean about prayer time and this is good. It give God a a chance not only to hear you,,,but also to reply.

Blessings.
My daddy was a pentecostal preacher and evangelist. I was redeemed as a child. I did leave for awhile, ventured off into a treacherous wilderness of disastrous proportions. Praise be to Him, He brought me back to my knees 15 years ago. I have been rewiring some stuff (nondeminational now) I didn't quite understand and needed to go in. The past several years I have been more been more diligent as Jeremiah 15:16 applies for me too. I am so grateful. Also, my heart burns, too, as He opens the verses to me.

I am just really digging in because His words have become the joy and rejoicing of my heart. Oh and lets not forget proverbs 25:2...

Anyway, I am glad you are at a place where you can teach but I also pray that you remain teachable. I think that sanctification and growth that we find in Him, requires it. May we never become desensitized with His revealing.

Quiet at His feet like Mary. Being still is what I mean. I think He wants, very much, our one on one tine with Him. In prayer, study, writing, singing, and LISTENING.

My appreciation for learning, has me relating to the bereans, chowing down. He is teaching me, though, that while the greek interpret knowing to be a head knowledge thing, the hebrews define knowing more towards the heart, in worship and fellowship. So my analytical and busy mind needs to shhhhhh, so I can hear Him. Pray for me, will you?

Do you have any thing you'd like me to pray about?

1. The yoke your preachen is a huge burden, in fact impossible
2. Jesus said his yoke is light, and its easy, again, not what your preaching, if growing to maturity was easy, we would all be there, but we are not. So it must not be that easy
3. He said you will find rest for your souls, i have found rest, if your preaching you may lose salvation, you will never find resr.
4. No, it is not submission, it is taking, he did not say do, he said Take. You cant even get that right,
5, so when are you going to trust him and stop trusting yourself?
A simple verse you have made into something else. Hope you enjoy the ride.

Woman... edit before you send. Ugh. Lol. Sentence structure errors are especially annoying when they are our own, Hahaha.

still have?

Here is how can you prove us all wrong:

Find us a verse where ETERNAL LIFE, stops, or ceases to be? Is there ANY verse or example in the Bible where someone HAS eternal life, then doesnt have it anymore?

this obviously begs the question: "Then was it eternal to begin with?" but lets not let that get in the way. Lets just see: Can you provide a verse that states ETERNAL LIFE can be lost, forfeited, walked away from, or misplaced?
Ah, lets see now - I would suggest that if OSAS is true, then there should be a verse that says that once eternal life is given that God will never take it away. Can you give a verse that states that ETERNAL LIFE cannot be lost, forfeited, walked away from, or misplaced?

It is like I said elsewhere, we must start with Scripture and develop doctrine from there. Let's not start with doctrine and then ask others to find Scriptures to disprove our doctrine.

Um no
The gospel is aboit being restored to a relationship with our creator, or saved
Samctification is learning to walk in his ways.

Your mixing sanctification wih justification, and god will not allow that,
god will not allow that

Am I speaking to a prophet or is this biblical authority being spoken?

Whoever believes in him will

Never hunger or thirst

Actually D,
This IS what OSAS teaches.

YOU should get your facts straight.
Hey, I also do not believe in OSAS, but I would suggest to be careful about generalizing what OSAS followers believe. It does not do anybody much good to tell someone they believe something they say they do not believe.

You don't like when people accuse you of believing in a works based salvation (and that is a common accusation made here on CC). And if I am accusedof believing that works save a person, I just smile to myself and laugh because that is the farthest thing from what I believe!

did Judas go to heaven after he betrayed Jesus and died?
Judas was lost, he was never saved, jesus called him among the unbelievers, and told him he was the devil.

Is that what he calls his children?
