...on occasion I get on my knees with my face to the ground and pray while facing east.............
I know Muslims in the west point their sajjāda towards the east (towards Mecca) and assume that position whenever they pray, but why do you?

Thanks!

Personally, out of respect for the fact that Jesus is a Jew, the Lion of the tribe of Judah and from the rising of the sun to the setting therof his name will be great among the Gentiles.....I do not believe it "adds" to my prayer or anything like that, I just choose to do it.....maybe because the next time he stands on this planet he will step down on the mount of Olives and sweep the planet with the besom of destruction as God........

Thanks! I'd heard that the Orthodox sometimes choose to face towards the east when they pray, though I don't know why they do. I know it's not required though (no position of prayer is required for Christians by any church or denomination, like it is for Muslims, as far as I know).

Fully agree.....I just chose to do it "sometimes"......like maybe less than 1% of the times I pray.....probably more like .001%

This is a serious question. Should an able bodied person pray kneeling down? Jesus and Paul certainly knelt to pray, does this mean we should? I find it much easier to pray while walking up and down. Is this disrespectful?
Views from the forum most welcome.
Hey! Scrobulous...
No! It's pray without ceasing and you can't do that by kneeling.
Without faith it is impossible to please him... The prayer of faith is more powerful that years and years upon one's knees.

That being said, Orel Roberts taught, Point of Contact. His way of saying, pray by however your faith will be inspired. So that if you are more able to believe for what your praying about while on your knees, then on your knees is a good place to be!

Sometimes I imagine looking up and rush into the sky, on into space, and past to enter the eternal city through a giant pearly gate. Pure gold is seen in every direction except one, in which the gold turns translucent as the glory of the Father shines brightly. I imagine every golden road leads to the throne room and the brightness of the Lord. I picture the doors of the throne room are the full 1500 miles high and open easier than easy. I picture the throne room to be large enough for both the angelic host and the faithful from every generation of man. The Father so bright like the Sun yet full of love and acceptance and ever ready for that next prayer request made in the name of Jesus our God and King. Who happens to be sitting right there next to the Father until the last enemy has been made into his footstool.
When that day comes and we're all gathered together in the throne room, I hope with great anticipation for this scripture to be fulfilled. Zeph 3:17 "The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; He will save, He will rejoice over thee with joy; He will rest in his love, He will joy over the with singing."
