A man was teaching his son how to use a shotgun, going through all of the safety and responsibilities of using it.
He told his son “ son, you can never get a bullet back once you pull the trigger.”
“I know” said the boy.
“No you don’t” the father replied “once you pull the trigger You.Can.Never.Get.It.Back”
“Once the trigger is pulled, that is it. It’s not a video game where you can reset and try again.”

Same with words. Once they are spoken, the can’t be taken back. Words can either be a source for blessing, or for destruction.

I didn't proofread my post. Here is how it should read as the last sentence.

My goal this year is to temper my speech. To think before I speak, and bring honor to my Father in heaven.

My goal this year is
I was just giving similar advise to someone regarding their upcoming marriage. That is so true and one's other half should b just that and handled with care. Having to say sorry, then sorry again and again gets boring.

Very true, fellow believer! Even when we have to speak the truth in love, carefully chosen words go a long way...
