Some people don't like it when you talk about evidences of true conversion. But one of the points of 1 John is knowing.

There are different aspects of knowing, knowing we know Him, knowing we are abiding in Him, and most importantly knowing we have eternal life. So here's a word study on the word "know" in 1 John

1 John 2:3-4. Hereby we know that we know Him if we keep His commandments. He that says he knows Him and does not keep His commandments is a liar.

1 John 2:5 We know that we are in Him because we keep His Word.

1 John 3:14. We know we have passed from death unto life because we love the brethren.

1 John 3:24- we know that He abides in us by the Spirit He has given us. See also 4:13

1 John 5:18. We know that whosoever is born of God does not practice sin

We know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.

Just to name a few. Part of the message of 1 Johnis having full assurance of salvation by knowing the marks of a true conversion

John is the best area for new bible readers to start.

The amazing part of reading the bible through time as we age is, words we thought we fully understood, seem to magically take on a deeper meaning when re-read as we build a closer relationship......Keep moving forward and watch the magic appear.

The amazing thing about John is that the language is so simple, but the message and content is some of the deepest in the Bible

Simple yet profound to the highest degree

We could add a few more marks of a true believer from the first epistle of John:

BELIEVERS MAKE NO CLAIM TO SINLESS PERFECTION
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (1 Jn 1:10)

BELIEVERS KEEP (OBEY) CHRIST'S COMMANDMENTS
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. (1 Jn 2:3)

BELIEVERS LOVE THE BRETHREN
He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. (1 Jn 2:10)

BELIEVERS LOVE THE FATHER, NOT THE WORLD (ITS EVIL TENDENCIES)
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (1 Jn 2:15)

BELIEVERS ABIDE IN CHRIST
And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. (1 Jn 2:28)

Very good! Thanks for adding these!
