First time I read this scripture for the first time. I thought the Lord was setting up commandments and punishment for us but, recently I realize and understood something. Those where not standards to be follow it is an alert a loving Fathers protection advice. This is a warning to us telling us what can happen to us when we are not with Him. His telling us His the only one that can keep up us in one piece, His the only one that can provide the right direction and right path, on our own we will not make it.

Luke 11: KJV
{23} He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth."

I am confused as to why you quoted this verse in relation to your post about commandments and punishment? This verse does not seem to mention any punishment at all..

Jesus said those that do not gather with me scatters that sounded like a commandment to me as I have said now I understand it have nothing to do with what I thought. This was Him telling us if we abide in Him we will not be scatter but packed and in one piece. I hope you I understand my point know?

Luke 11:17-26 NASBS
[17] But He knew their thoughts and said to them, "Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and a house divided against itself falls. [18] If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul. [19] And if I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? So they will be your judges. [20] But if I cast out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. [21] When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are undisturbed. [22] But when someone stronger than he attacks him and overpowers him, he takes away from him all his armor on which he had relied and distributes his plunder. [23] He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me, scatters. [24] "When the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and not finding any, it says, 'I will return to my house from which I came.' [25] And when it comes, it finds it swept and put in order. [26] Then it goes and takes along seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first."

This appears to be a warning to the Jewish leaders and what will happen to the Jewish nation when rejecting their Messiah (as happened in 70AD).
