Should We Ponder the End of the World?

Is too much time spent trying to determine when the end will come ? Even in the time of Jesus this was on their minds and they even asked Jesus about it. I'm not saying we should sit back in total ignorance and just wait for it to come upon us. The scriptures talk of it. But there are untold numbers of people living today who will perish when that end does come. Can we, as believers in the teachings of Jesus, dwell on the end of the world or should we spend every precious moment we can telling a friend who is lost, telling a neighbor who is lost, telling strangers who are lost, telling them about the hope there is in Jesus, telling them of the joy in our own hearts because of Jesus. Should we tell them these things at every possible opportunity or should we take some of that very precious time and debate among ourselves. " when will the world end?" Knowing when the end will come is knowledge which is not attainable according to Scripture. No one can know. So why, as our lives tick away, spend that time pursuing that which is not attainable?

The Disciples asked Jesus about the end of the age not the world. That age was the one they were living in that ended in AD70.
The world to them was the known world, primarily the Roman Empire. Instead of reading Matthew 24 in isolation read chapter 23
as well to get their questions into context. Also notice how many times Jesus uses the word YOU and not THEM or THEY. He was talking
to his Disciples not us.

The Book of Revelation is primarily about Jesus not the end. The clue is in chapter 1 verse 1 ''The Revelation of Jesus Christ''
The second coming will happen one day and the resurrection and judgement will happen followed by a new heaven and a new earth

Matthew 23:1 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,

Matthew 13:49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

Matthew 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Hebrews 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

It is important not because of the timing.. We should not be seeking to know the Day or the hour because that is a waste of time because the Bible declares No one shall know the day or the hour..

It is important because in the end times just before the return of our LORD Jesus Christ the lawless one also called the anti-christ will come and he will deceive many into believing He is God on earth.. So if we are heading into the end times Christians should know about the great deception so as to be forewarned, so as to not be deceived..

From my reading of prophecy i believe the Anti-christ will fool many into believing He is the returned Messiah or to the Jews promised Messiah.. lying signs and wonders shall be performed to ensure the deluded shall believe the lie and so they shall be condemned.. In the end days you will not be able to find an atheist because everyone will see the miracles and believe that God exists.. Bit unfortunately for those atheists who finally get the "proof" they demanded the "god" they will be following will be the beast..

Just remember what Christians have been told to do when the signs do appear. Don't look around like unbelievers in worry, nor look inward for peace like new agers, but look up.

I can't help but ponder why those who would ponder about the end of the world haven't pondered the reason of their calling.

So if one ponders the end of the world then obviously they don't know the answer,right? (It seems it would obvious that people who know the truth don't ponder the hour.)

So if a person has pondered the question and isn't able to come to the knowledge of the truth, then the person isn't really seeking the answer since there is nothing hid;

For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. Luke 12:2

So if you hear those who will say the answer is hidden, and that no man can know the day just remember that if the truth be hid, it is hid from them who are lost. And yes, there is definitely a way....

And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Luke 11:9

But then again, there is no reason for anyone who is called to repentance to be lost, except they have corrupted themselves by their calling, thinking they were choosen.

To the title, how can this question arise among those who believe Jesus?

Why can't we do all of it? Why should we pick one issue over another?

"This is the revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants what must soon come to pass. He made it known by sending His angel to His servant John, who testifies to everything he saw."

Being that God the Father revealed to His Son the events leading up to the end of the age and who sent His angel to reveal it to John and therefore to all believers, then we can conclude that it is information that God wants us know and look forward to. Regarding the appearing of the Lord, Peter said that we ought to "live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming." We also have the following:

"Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near."

As revealed above, there is a blessing to those who read the words of the prophesies contained in Revelation and to those who hear it and keep watch, guard, protect, take to heart that information.

We may not know the exact time of the Lord's appearing to gather His church, as He has made that perfectly clear. However, we can know the that it is close. The very fact that we have been seeing the stage being set for events which are to take place after the church has been gathered demonstrates how close we are. Events taking place with Israel and the fact that we have had the technology for the mark of the beast, as well as a number of other signs, demonstrates the nearness of the Lord.
