Sister Angela,
It's been quite a while. Great to hear from you again.
Now let's jump right on to the scriptures.
Acts 10:38
38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
From the context of the above scripture you'll agree with me that the healing and deliverance mentioned here has to do with physical healing. And Peter mentions it as the good Jesus went about doing.
I believe that should underscore the importance God places on healing and deliverance.
Yes, it may be temporal, but it does cause men to give to glory to our father in heaven.
Then about your last question concerning suffering.
Yes, I do rejoice in suffering knowing that its only but for a moment. That help is not far. And that it will eventually turn out to me for a testimony to the glory of God. And of course, they do turn out to become testimonies, because God's word cannot be broken.
I noted very clearly that Jesus healed. It fuflilled prophecies, and it was also consistent with the character of God, that Jesus had compassion. BUT, it does not mean healing is part of the gospel. It was part of the "signs" as John called them, so the people would know who Jesus was. There were also healings in Acts, of course, as they were a sign to the church that God was with them. BUT, never a part of the gospel.
Again, the gospel is about Jesus dying on the cross to saved us from our sins. Healing is not part of that, although God can heal who he wants, when he wants. But NOT because we claim it, name it, demand or even ask pretty please! This whole healing thing is fine, if you understand it it NOT part of the real gospel. But, you might not know what the gospel actually is. Please see my post above.
As for Acts 10:38, I do not deny it, I have already said many times, that Jesus fulfilled the OT prophecies. What I find weird, is that the entire chapter 10 of Acts, is about God calling a Gentile, and using Peter to preach to him, despite Peter's sel-righteous Phariseeism. And yet, you pull one verse out of context, which was part of the witness of who Jesus was, and make it into another gospel, rather than the statement of who Jesus Christ was. Acts 10:38 is not the gospel. Read the whole chapter about 10 times, and maybe you will understand what it is about. In fact, look at Peter's speech. That is just one verse describing who Jesus is, and what he did on earth.
"Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism 35 but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right. 36 You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.37 You know what has happened throughout the province of Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached— 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.
39 “We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a cross, 40 but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen.41 He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen—by us who ateand drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. 43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” Acts 10:34-43
I don't know how anyone could read that verse in context, and possibly think it is part of the gospel, instead of a fulfillment of OT prophecies. This chapter is about Peter preaching the good news to a Gentile, part of which was explaining how Jesus was baptized and went about doing good. The whole last part is about Jesus being raised from the dead, commanding us to preach that, and how he will one day judge the living and the dead. And those who believe, receive forgiveness in his name.
You really need to learn how to do proper exegesis and some hermeneutics. Then you would not be pulling verses out of context all the time, to prove something that is not Biblical.
