Why would I continue to sin if I'm a believer?

I've never loved the Lord more, I've only grown more mature by the years, only come to know and care about god more, but these feelings that are not against anyone are still here. Maturity and love and power won't change it, no matter how perfect it how close to god I come. This is simply a matter of history that doesn't have a clear understanding involving what is most important. And no one has an answer so far.
And I don't have any addictions.

I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity.
Human exertion, shear force of will, and even harsh chastizement are all useless tools against the power a desire of flesh. In you desire victory over sin, then you must become devout, that the Lord will take up your battle.
So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh- for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!"

How is this done?
In short you must first love Christ and his ways, and then get busy doing the things he commanded. Then sin becomes a foot note in your life.

Right nothing can undo what the Blood of Jesus has done..if we sin Grace kicks in because we have a sinful nature that will be with us till the day we die..we will have to pick one and starve the other...read, study, pray, don't sit with mockers, stay away from people who are literately trying to trap you and you will grow in your faith and recognize the evil that is all around us..then understanding will be given to you if you ask for it Proverbs 8 and read day and night Ephesians 6:10 The Amour of God.
As a new believer in June of 1985, I found myself in need of fasting often, along with being saturated in the word, I gained a lot of strength from that discipline. I think you can too, it is possible to bring the flesh under subjection, other wise Jesus would not have said to the woman at the well, Go and sin no more!! Why would he make this statement if it was not possible?

The interpretation of Romans 7 which has been given here, that it is the normal state of a saved person, contradicts Romans 6 where it says that the body of sin has been destroyed in a Christian. What has been described is a carnal person who has yet to be filled with the Holy Spirit which would make him holy.

All supposed conflicts in scripture are resolved once you understand God's sovereignty and how to study and read a bible.
The bible is not a set of verses that stand alone. I've see people in the forums actually quote a verse not realizing (I guess) that the verse is part of a sentence, completed in following verses. Parables are misundertsood because the reader does not realize that every parable was explained by Jesus Christ. Read the bible like the book that it.

I dont know, why do you? Cos you like it? You dont know any other option because you always done it? Have you confessed to God about it whatever sin thats hindering you and asked hIm to deliver you? And show you a better way? Feel free to name the sin, nail it to the cross and let Jesus deal with it. If we confess our faults one to another we can be healed. Have you told satan or whoever feeding you the devils lies to get lost? Change your mind about sin and repent...and God will work in you and lead you away from it toward Him.

Do some Bible reading about justification, sanctification, and glorification.
Sanctification is defined as God’s will for us (1 Thessalonians 4:3). Throughout the Bible, sanctification is mentioned frequently as a common reminder of how to align yourself with God's command.
We need to align ourselves and have a personal relationship with Him everyday by reading the word, praying, and simply praising Him. Let Him show you what His will is for your life. Removing worldly influences from your life like TV and secular music for a start are helpful steps. Having a very personal relationship that you feed each day helps you avoid the temptations around you. As your relationship with Him grows, you will find yourself growing and truly changing with the power of the Holy Spirit.
P.S. Most of us can't claim to be without sin. The difference is letting Him change us by following His will instead of our own.

No you wouldn't. How did you work that out? Am I reading your post out of context or am I hearing you right? Whether you're a Christian or not you are no less without sin than anyone else is boss. For all of us are born sinners whether we think we're Christian or not. How can you say you're not a Christian if you're joined to a loving Christian forum? If there was no part of you that clinged to God you wouldn't be here any less than I am? That said even if you was a full blown Christian, you still wouldn't be without sin. Every Christian in the world that is, was or will be will be a sinner and deserve the wages of sin. Glory be to God our loving and graceful Father. Who gives us Christ that we may be set free from the chains of the wages of sin. That is why we should wake up praying and praising and fall to sleep praying. That we may wake up and praise Him. A gift reserved only for the living. After all, God is a God of the living and not of the dead. God is good and always has our back. Even when we aren't and don't. He will make all things new. See mother He said, yet even while he dragged his cross and hailed a crown of thorns. All things. Not some things. Not most things. All things. Including you. God bless you and be revealed unto you. Unto us all. Freeing us from all the chains of this life. Restoring us back to Him. Amen to that!!

I worked it out because I take the scripture as it reads, not as most want it to say. When it says 'be ye perfect' I take that as an instruction and a possibility. No compromise.
I was a sinner and Christ saved me from sin - fully and literally, but I have fallen from that at the moment although there is no sin that I am aware of or committing deliberately. I do not have the blessed assurance. It has been a horrific year for me but I know whom I have believed and that He is able to restore me according to my original committment set free from the chains of sin - truly and completely. Yours is a half imperfect salvation.

Not sure what you mean by "yours is a half perfect salvation". Could you explain how you come to this conclusion?
A sin is a sin.
And salvation is salvation.
There's no such thing as a half perfect salvation my friend. You're either saved through salvation through faith or you're not.
Sorry to hear about your year. Remember to tell your mountains how big your God is. Instead of telling God how big the mountain is like most people do!
