I have a son in law of 51 years of age who is dying of Motor Neuron Disease. He is an active and committed Christian. With all the pain and worry he is experiencing he is helping me in a re- introduction to Christianity. During my studies I felt obliged to look for help in answering the question, “How can God allow the pain and suffering from illness followed by death in a young person?” The thought crossed my mind that I might find help in understanding that question through the work of C S Lewis. Can anyone make a suggestion as to which of Lewis's book I could find guidance.

Hello BML,

I'm not familiar with the works of C S Lewis but just wanted to post my support. I hope you find the answers your looking for and pray that the Holy Spirit will be with you on your journey.

It could be through your son n laws suffering he is able to lead many to God.

The real question is then: What is suffering on earth for but for a mere moment when throughout all eternity he will live more healthier, blessed, and gain all that he trusted God for?
