I don't think the age was on the top of my list. It is about compatibility and connection. It is about being equally yoked. But it is about being on the same stage in life. If you want children, do you think a 50 year old will be a good father 18 years from now?

There has already been so much great advice. To attack this from a biological angle, our body gives us ques at different times in our life. When women are younger, their bodies are releasing hormones for procreation. This instinctively draws them towards alpha male types, for bearing strong healthy children. When those chemicals slow down the response is a desire for companionship. Men are looking to spread their genes and make their “mark” at a younger age, then testosterone naturally dissipates and they become less sexually driven, less combative/argumentative and more relaxed. Since they aren’t trying so hard at getting you pregnant, subconsciously, conversations get more meaningful. At 40 most are financially established, and have the confidence (awarded from decades of mistakes) to take humour risks in conversation. My friend groups are histerical.
Thanks Hungry, this was very informative and probably very true in my situation. Definitely makes sense. Thanks :)

Perhaps you would consider Florida to be on your short list of states to visit in the USA?
Why not! :) I hear it rains there quite often and I like rain (moderately speaking).

That’s true and that’s the part that scares me lol not that if he’ll be a good father but will he be around long enough to raise “our” children.

I think that some people need to grow up and get a grasp on life... But your right. No one should have to put up with any of that...
Its sad if I as a 18 yr old is more grown up than many adults.
I have more than enough reason i could bash men. But who am I to bring judgment. We will be judged according to our measure and who exalts himself will be humbled
All have fallen short to the glory of God. All need grace.
Seeing people like this woman makes my blood boil.

At what age do you “grow up” though? Some people who are in their 30s, 40s etc still act childish lol.

Hey Mel, I think it's a matter of being responsible. I think that defines you. I know that I can act immature at times. Be I always have to be responsible. My family depends on it. Can't let them down . you know what I mean?...

I know a couple of young men that bill. I just find it ironic that these young men talk to me about the same things. They want to find a grounded person to date and they are few and far between. Is'nt that funny. I think in today's hurried life. People don't take the time to get to know One another. Oyr are willing to sacrifice anything. And going back to that divorce thing. It is an epidemic in this country. People these day's go into Marriage thinking that, " If things work out, they work out, if not, not"I am glad that if anyone wanting get' married in my church has to attend counseling for an entire before they can get married...

The Bible does not place any restrictions on age differences. Most scholors think there was a significant age difference between Mary and Joseph for example. God being the center of the marriage is the important part! :)

Before we got married my wife and I attended pre-marital counseling through her church that consisted of 4 two hour weekly sessions. I highly recommend it if you want your marriage to get off to a good start. I also highly recommend daily prayer, devotion and bible study together. It may make a tremendous difference in having a happy satisfying marriage.

You are correct about the divorce epidemic, probably why a lot of couples just live together rather than having a lifetime commitment that marriage may provide. Of course, if you enter a marriage with the thought that if you hit a rough patch you can always bail out then your marriage is probably doomed from the start.

Marriage has a lot of ups and downs and you have to take the good with the bad. Put God in the center and you may pull through it together and enjoy the journey along the way.

You are probably correct in thinking this way but you also have to have something, either tangible or intangible to offer as well.

The secret to keeping an older man happy?

Let Him control the Remote........and, no matter what......do not disturb him when he is watching his favorite TV Show!

At least they have jobs. It’s hard for some people to even get a job these days.
