General Booth & The Salvation Army.

The first General of the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army is a denominational offshoot from the Methodist Church of the 19'th century. He wanted to know why ministers preached salvation to the saved while out side people were dying of Alcohol & Opium, Gambling & Syphilis and other vices that make slaves of men and women alike. He caused the creation of child labor laws & safety matches to prevent children in work houses to be poisoned by the matches they made.

He took his ministries to the streets and rescued Alcoholics, Addicts, Gamblers and Prostitutes from their sinful ways. Taught them about the lord and salvation and was instrumental to the early days of alcohol, drug, prostitution and homeless rehab. He is practically the role model for modern street and rescue missionaries. These were some of his near prophetic words.

No sort of defense is needed for preaching outdoors, but it would take a very strong argument to prove that a man who has never preached beyond the walls of his meetinghouse has done his duty. A defense is required for services within buildings rather than for worship outside of them

I have always loved the work of the SA, they are great as for helping people.

The problem with TSA (in the UK) is that a lot of the help they give is for the homeless and addicts and a lot of the homeless are addicts. However, there are other organisations who are helping these people and shockingly, alcoholics qualify for high rates of benefits that disabled people are now being denied.

In Booth's days, this class of people died on the streets often and there was no other help available to them.

TSA however, are doing nothing regarding the injustice of the recent stringent policies towards disabled people, who are having their benefits taken away and are commiting suicide. This group are the marginalised of today and not the homeless and addicts.

TSA rely on governments to fund their social work to a greater extent. They do not seem to want to rock the boat.

Some of y'all may remember the horrible tornado outbreak in April, 2011. That was when Alabama got hit really hard........they still show footage of the one that hit Tuscaloosa on the Weather Channel all the time.

After it was over............the Red Cross was all over the TV campaigning for monetary donations, and other such.........I mean ALL OVER the TV........the Salvation Army was out on the streets, in the neighborhoods. They were delivering food, water, blankets, toiletries and such. They were helping cut up fallen trees, haul wood and metal scraps to the street.........they were comforting ALL who had been a victim of the storm.

Meanwhile..........back on TV............the Red Cross was pleading for more money!

I lived through this...........and SAW with my own eyes the difference betwixt the two. Every donation I have made since has gone to the Salvation Army.

Since I was a child I have heard of the "starving children" all over the world but, guess what? I have never seen followup on works being accomplished anywhere, except weeing the SA at work. I am dubious of the ONG's also. I tend to like doctors without borders.

It is very difficult to know just who is doing what but it is true about the SA...…...they do wonderful works, I believe of God..and DI prays so, amen.
