Tolerance Eph 4:2

What you speak of is nothing new on this site. And the BDF (Bible Discussion Forum) is the center of it. There was a time they stayed in their forum and the overall tone of the site was nicer, but eventually they began spreading out and their contagion spread throughout the rest of the site as well.
Combine that with the overall feel of the site being less close than it once was, it really opens up for things to worsen. But it is all considered acceptable to the head honchos.

Though your claim of a man giving his opinion on makeup is an extreme oversimplification. He said much more than that and indeed said that women Required makeup just to be attractive. And then went on to rant angrily about women. When his derogatory attitude was called out he began twisting words and flat out lying in an attempt to discredit those that questioned his attitudes.
And have you never heard the term 'never discuss politics or religion'? Either of those topics tend to bring about heated discussions. Socialism certainly falls under that political spectrum. Add to that the overall political climate of the US (which makes up most chatters) and you have a predestined hotbed.

Hi, fairly new here. I'm assuming mostly Christians here? While I know 'all fall short of the glory..' I was very surprised to read so many vitriolic replies and even name calling. I happened to give some observations on 'socialism' and you would have thought I said 'God is dead'. Someone else gave his opinion on make-up which wasn't too popular and was berated by many members. Rom 2:4, 'the kindness of God leads us to repentance' and Eph 4:2, 'show tolerance for one another with love' is the opposite I see in some posts. I'm certainly not perfect but one thing I can do is talk about something controversial w/o blowing my top off. Does anyone get what I'm trying to say or am I too idealistic here?

So we need to clearly define and understand "tolerance". Left-Liberals preach tolerance until their views are rejected. After that they preach hatred. Look at what is happening all around you. The Left has been promoting the idea of assassinating Trump. That is both sedition and treason. His response to all this nonsense has not been sufficiently stern and swift.

Christians are to love their neighbors, which also means that they are to hate evil ideologies, which ultimately come from Satan, and expose them, while presenting the Gospel.

The reason some here blow their tops is due to long held beliefs (dogmas) on certain biblical topics that when confronted with the Word are found to lack credibility.
The individuals on the loosing end of the arguments whose long held dogmas (some decades long), will dismiss/deny the scriptures/the Word that clearly show their long held perspectives to be wrong.
Without credible scriptures to back up what now is shown to have been an erroneous perspective, some will nevertheless continue to defend their erroneous perspectives by maligning the individual whose perspective is in line with the whole of scriptures.

I certainly hope it doesn't go the way of most comment sections like Yahoo, where trolls and haters r there to stir up strife. Re the make-up guy I think a few nicer but to the point remarks might of had a better effect but like u said he probably expected just what he got.

Hi, There is much bad publicity re socialism by guess who the rich capitalists. This goes way back to the Vatican who decided not to practice socialism bc of the $$. Certainly socialism has it's own issues and I'm not taking sides. Prob nobody here likes Bernie Sanders but he would have won if Hillry would have backed out and no fixing the elections. . His ideas are super popular and he had enormous crowds. Some European countries are doing it right and have the best lifestyles. Personally, I'd love to pay more taxes and have free Healthcare, ed, good SSA and etc. What gripes me is the one-sided info we get w/o a fair look into this. Well, no worries, the powers that b will NEVER allow socialism HERE (US). BTW not either party and not here to fight just give diff view. God's in charge no matter what and thank God he's holding back the full force of the 'lawless one' with the Restrainer on board, 2 Thes 2:6,7.

I'm an Independent and choose the most decent candidate. What I'm torn on is to the left the extreme is allowing heathenism to those who choose...and on the extreme right there are the alt-right/supremacists haters. Btw if you look at the top 10 Socialist countries you'll find they score high in living conditions for the top % of people while here the .001% keeps gaining ground. Take it easy they'll NEVER allow Soc here. Btw my viewpoint is just as important as yours.
