I have a homework and I have to investigate about amish people, but most importantly I have to find an amish person or community. Any amish people here? Or does anyone know an amish family I could interview? You would help me a lot I would really appreciated. Thanks

The average Amish family is not likely to be online chatting in the evenings.

Welcome, MSVasquez...
One of the characteristics of Amish people is that they choose not to use electricity, so the likelihood of any Amish people having a computer with internet access is extremely low.

You might consider using Google to guide you in your search. Wikipedia probably has some decent information on the subject.

However, since you're here, allow me to share something even more important: the one true God, Who created this world and the whole universe, hates the wrong and evil things we each do (you, me, and everyone else). He has one penalty for those things: death. However, He loves us so much that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to take that penalty in our place. Jesus died on the cross and rose again to everlasting life three days later. By trusting that He paid the penalty for you, you become one of Gods' children with a promise of eternal life.

First you need to buy them a computer . . . oh, and then electricity.

Head on out towards Missouri way! LOTS of Amish peoples round them parts! Look for farms with lumber mills! Be advised however! Don't let 'em put a sheet over your head! That's how they keep their "gene pool" diverse! ;)

For a group essentially very similar to the Amish, you may want to try and find some Menonites as they do allow electricity and many modern conveniences (i.e. computers); you might have better luck.

I appreciate the amish for them going hardcore with what they believe.

But I've always wondered: Do those people evangelize, like EVER? How could they? That is one glaring problem with the amish. Other than that, they are definately living solid lives.

I don't believe they evangelize - they're essentially a closed community - They speak English to outsiders, but the everyday language for many is "Deitsch" - a dialect of Palatine German with a lot of English loans. Praying is done in regular "high" German. One community, three languages.

I was watching Amish Mafia one time, and they put a hit out on the man's mushroom patch. Apparently, he was taking up too much turf at the farmer's market and had been stepping on some toes. So they went down and spread lime all over the mushroom patch. Multiple innocent mushrooms died as a result. The struggle is real.

if we are Yeshua's people, we will live and work for Him and follow His ways, and not go over the edge according
to another's human's doctrine - The Holy Spirit will always instruct us in the ways that our Heavenly Father
has layed-out before us and given us the choice to 'follow Him, or to follow the ways of this un-holy world...

this is the 'TELL', for us to know if we are His 'called-elect-chosen'...

The Amish are like many other denominations today in a world where electronic goods or technology are on the increase .

In that sense they avoid it as if it was the mark of the beast . Which is not a literal mark to begin with.

Technology to include the avoidance of it has become the new god of the new age . What's next as good increase? Satellite heat seeking identification technology?

Rather than buying and selling that kind of idea of a literal mark, buying and not selling spiritual truth the gospel must be first hand.

Christ will come as a thief in the night.Things will be as usual just like in the days of Noah buying and selling food for these bodies of death people will be marring and given into marriage, the thoughts of man heart will be continually evil as all the time .

Makes we wonder according to the question in Luke .When Christ comes will he find faith in respect to the eternal not seen or men trying to hide from the advancements in technology. Use technology wisely by it the gospel can go out into the world.

Throwing out the baby with the bath water will not advance the gospel.

you are greatly mis-taken, satan will use ALL of the most 'high-tech' follies to entice the masses..,
and he has quite a few more in his pocket in order to destroy and deceive the reality of His Word...
