I do believe the Democratic Part was once for the minority and honestly a great party, look at FDR. But today has the party changed to people who are socialist? Maybe it's just a sect of people.... but it is an important sect... the ones who want to "run" the Country.

Would we be better as a Socialist Nation?

I don’t think so.

The FDR era is long gone and, as you say, the Democratic Party is no longer a party for hard working folks.

Of course not. How do you envision a Socialist nation? Where would the Bill of Rights fit in?

The Democratic party's newest socialist, Ocasio Cortez, has already claimed she would do away with the electoral college. This sounds good to some but in reality the electoral college protects the right of everyone being represented.

Do you think a socialist government is going to allow the Second Ammendment?

No. A lot of young people think socialism will work and that somehow it will be different than what they've done in other countries, but when you ask them how it will be different they don't know.

The old school democrats wanted to expand government aid because they wanted to aid those who really needed help and of course they had to raise taxes to pay for those expanded programs and that worked when the country needed that, but today these liberals think everyone is entitled to free education and low cost healthcare and a minimum wage that you can raise a family on.

Socialism always ends in failure for a nation..

Socialism:
- forcibly removes resources from those who work to support those who won't work
- exalts special-interest groups over the best interests of everyone
- restricts the rights of minorities while claiming to do exactly the opposite
- encourages laziness which in turn hurts everyone

Dinesh D'Souza puts it well: Everybody wants a piece of the pie. How do you get a pie in the first place?

There's no need for such a question. Socialism is one step away from Communism and Totalitarianism. Which means the destruction of the individual, the family, and society.

The enemies of America are pouring billions of dollars into creating an atmosphere of hatred, anarchy, lawlessness and mind control. The universities and colleges have been taken captive by Communists and Atheists. The Democrat Party has been taken captive by the hate-mongers. Most of them should be outlawed and/or imprisoned. But there does not seem to be any will be deal with this existentialist threat to the USA.

Thinking big picture...yes. Usually people take things for granted until they’re gone. Most people don’t even know what’s going on in their backyard, let alone their government. Perhaps taking away everyone’s rights and freedoms for awhile, would make them turn off reality television put down the beer and take an interest in their families, the education system, economics and politics. Obama care was a huge step towards socialism. He executive ordered his way through eight years of power, paving the way, while being celebrated all along. When a nation is as broken, and immoral as a whole as western countries appear to be, things need to hit bottom before they bounce back. Socialism, that’s about the bottom. Note that I’m your northern neighbour, and live in a border city at that. There are changes coming, it’s inevitable.

Hi, There is much bad publicity re socialism by guess who the rich capitalists. This goes way back to the Vatican who decided not to practice socialism bc of the $$. Certainly socialism has it's own issues and I'm not taking sides. Prob nobody here likes Bernie Sanders but he would have won if Hillry would have backed out and no fixing the elections. . His ideas are super popular and he had enormous crowds. Some European countries are doing it right and have the best lifestyles. Personally, I'd love to pay more taxes and have free Healthcare, ed, good SSA and etc. What gripes me is the one-sided info we get w/o a fair look into this. Well, no worries, the powers that b will NEVER allow socialism HERE (US). BTW not either party and not here to fight just give diff view. God's in charge no matter what and thank God he's holding back the full force of the 'lawless one' with the Restrainer on board, 2 Thes 2:6,7.

So it's the rich capitalists fault that everything is not free.
Those rich capitalist are the one who create jobs for you.
They make the product you buy.
They provide the stores you shop in.
They pay a majority of the taxes.
They are the largest supports of the great charities that help those in need.
If it were not for these wick, evil, rich capitalist, we would all like those in the poorest nations of the world.
And by the way, nothing is free. Somebody has tom pay for it.
So if you eliminate those rich capitalist, all your free stuff will stop.

I think I disagreed with every single statement up until you said God's in charge.

So... we DO agree on something.

That's a good start.

The .001% r in control, no debate there. Have u heard of loop-holes, and I would think the Church, like Samaritan's purse help just as well. 'War is a racket' written by Smedly Butler, explains how he warned FDR of the 'special interests' who were plotting a coup on him. I've heard rich people say their servants were paying a higher tax rate than them. Remember what Jesus replied to the rich guy asking him what he should do?

To TabinRiv

I have asked this several time before and have yet to get an answer.
What constitutes being rich?
How do you define rich.
At what point does one become a rich capitalist?
If/when you use such labels, you need to be ready to define what they mean.

they provide jobs, thats kinda like the slave owner telling the slave he provides a bed and three meals a day.

working folks pay all the tax, this is how it has always been all the way back to the caesars of rome. are you saying the rich bailed themselves out, of course they didnt.

rich folks will never give a dollar more to a charity than thay can deduct on their taxes, thats not giving.

the reasons those countries are so poor is because of those rich capitalist. Philippines, Nigeria. actually forget Nigeria, pick any country in Africa and its more than likely owned by these rich capitalist.

dont forget the wars declared by the rich capitalist, wars they never fight in that the working folks have to fight, they make millions while the best a working man can get out of it is to come home alive.
