Drinking behaviour is not related to sexual offender behaviour.

Drugs and alcohol cause sexual offenses to occur.
False. While drugs and alcohol are often involved in sexual assaults, drugs and alcohol do not cause sexual offenses to occur. Rather, drug and alcohol use may be a disinhibitor for the offender, while being under the influence may increase a potential victim's vulnerability.

I never stated that either alcohol or drugs necessarily cause sex offenses.

When I was a pot smoking teen I may have assaulted yer cookie jar with the ravening munchies though. tongue.png

I’m not saying he is guilty. I’m saying that the standards required by the SCOTUS are being challenged by his candidacy.
What precisely are the standards required by the SCOTUS? From memory and not utilizing a search engine.

What we have here is a he said , she said.
And today, SHE is always right.
Don't need to prove it, just say it, and the man is guilty.
Case closed.

The panel members are each entitled to weigh what's been accused against Judge Kavanaugh and render their decision as to his fitness for court.
What many watchers of these proceedings don't realize is that there are lawmakers who are educated in the law. They're lawyers or attorneys. Therefore, their opinion of the allegations against this man would be reviewed likely under their understanding of law as well.
Yes, but that has nothing to do with reasonable doubt. As you pointed out, this is about his fitness for the court.

Is he fit for court?

This is not a trial. The burden of proof rule doesn’t apply.

A candidate for the Supreme Court that has been admitted because he wasn’t proven guilty, is not my candidate. A Justice in the highest of positions should not be measured by the same standards defendants on trial in a criminal case are. What’s next? OJ Simpson for SCOTUS?

A Supreme Court Justice candidate should not, under no circumstances, be caught lying about his drinking habits. He should not be lying at all.
When someone makes an allegation there has to be some standard of evidence, whether we want to call it burden of proof or not.

The only part that may not apply is "beyond a reasonable doubt" which is only for criminal court proceedings.

Absolutely.
Make no mistake, the standard under jurisprudence does have a place in these proceedings.Regardless of the fact this is not a criminal case becasue the accusation is one of criminality. Otherwise, per your beliefs about this hearing, the allegations themselves should and would be believed and thus render Kavanaugh unable to achieve the 9th seat on the SCOTUS.

I’m pretty sure being loyal to the truth is one of them. Also I’m pretty sure keeping your temper is another one.

No, these are Dem. and Rep. politicians.
Their decisions are based on party, not what is right or wrong.

No, that’s not what I’m saying.

I’m saying that he seems to be portraying himself as another person than his contemporaries are portraying him.

Adding to the situation the allegations from Dr. Ford, and there’s some mud that has stuck.

I have no problems with a judge that has been heavy on the booze whenever he was younger, but I do have a problem with that if he ain’t man enough to admit it.

You don't respect he's man enough to admit he is not a black out drunk.

Why would his manhood hinge on something that isn't true when it is to the contrary of the accusations about his drinking?
The problem your perspective has is that the accusers have to be credible for Kavanaugh to be unfit to serve the SCOTUS. The only mud thus far in these hearings is that which surrounds the feet of those one's shoveling it toward the Senate Judiciary quarters hoping it will stick to Kavanaugh.

I can’t follow you on this.

But, if everybody’s in on a conspiracy against Mr Kavanaugh, then you are right.

Question is, though, who’s lying, Mr Kavanaugh or the other ones?

I don't know why you'd have trouble following me on that. I'll rephrase.
You attempt to impugn Kavanaugh's manhood concerning the question of the allegations about his drinking. If he was man enough to admit he was what has been accused in that regard.
And yet, you don't seem to respect his manhood when he refuted the claims he was a black out drunk. You appear to want Kavanaugh to agree with his accusers regardless of the truth. And do not respect the fact that Kavanaugh has addressed all accusations forthrightly.

Helps if you open the link and read for that answer. Which is why I went to the trouble of posting the link.
Maybe this will help.
How Are Supreme Court Justices Selected?
I hate to be a Debbie downer, but it doesn’t say anything about standards required.

Regardless, we both know what kind of standards we would require of the judge if we were on trial.

If that were true you wouldn't invoke the slang phrase.
You're not a Debbie downer. You're just misrepresenting the facts in the link. Either because you don't have enough respect for my offering so as to open the link and read it. Or, you opened the link and cannot comprehend its content.
The link fully answers the question of the criteria to be a SCOTUS judge.

Criteria and standards aren’t necessarily the same thing. You can meet the criteria required, yet you can fail to meet the standards required.

This a question about standards, not criteria.
