946 bdélygma (from
948 /bdelýssō, derived from
bdēō, "to reek with stench") – properly, what emits a foul odor and hence is
disgustingly abhorrent (
abominable, detestable); (figuratively)
moral horror as a
stench to God (like when people refuse to hear and obey His voice).
The abomination will be some type of idol or image which will be set up in the holy place within the new temple. If you know anything about the law, Israel was told by God through Moses that they were not to make any graven image. Therefore, for the ruler, that antichrist, to have an idolatrous image set up in the holy place would be a reeking stench in defiance against God and which will cause Israel to flee out into the wilderness where she will be cared for 1260 days, which is that last 3 1/2 years of that seven year period.
I believe that "the image" mentioned in Revelation that the false prophet has the inhabitants of the earth make of the first beast, though not mentioned by name, is the abomination spoken of by Daniel and Jesus. That image that he causes everyone to worship will most likely be that abomination spoken of.
Hope this is beneficial
