Set a time limit on how long you will be on the internet each day, then set a timer. You can divide it into two times a day, like 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes at night... or however long you want to make it.

Don’t start threads on forums that will have you continually checking back to see what’s new:).

Turn off the Wifi

Set a timer like ZT said

If you have a laptop, don't charge it.

If you use a phone, don't charge it.

Tell yourself you are going to work on a productive activity for at least 5 minutes a day. Usually after those five minutes, you want to do more. This works for reading, exercising, gardening, etc.

Get the "productive" app. I use this. I have, for example, "read the Bible" on it...set for everyday. So if I miss a day...I don't have a perfect streak anymore. The streaks motivate you to keep doing it.

I know this might seem counter to what you want...but I get really motivated to be productive by watching motivational speeches and productive videos on youtube.

Here is a good one...

Hopefully all that helps you. If not, there are so many ideas online that can teach you. There are also add ons and apps that block certain websites like facebook so that you don't waste time on them.

Personally, i havent much choice, for which i am thankful! I mean, i do start to check mails early, but know that there are other important things to be done. So after some readings, email replies, listening, etc, i leave the pc to work on other stuff. I hardly check online when outside, like if i was at the doctor's waiting or in a park... would rather hold pen and paper for other things to write or do=). At night, unless there's something really to do or check, i neither go online and leave aside online matters. I still much prefer to read hard copy, or work with my hands as in playing an instrument, than merely listening (online). Hope this helps, student.
