The word "dominion" in the Greek is "kurieuo," and means "to rule, to exercise lordship over."

Sin dominating a person refers to a particular type of sin over which the Believer cannot seemingly get victory. It could be lust, gambling, drugs, alcohol, nicotine, jealousy, envy, uncontrollable temper, etc.

This is a topic that should be understood yet is rarely touched upon. These 2 verses show there is a difference IMO:

1 John 3:4, "Whoever commits sin* (#G266), transgresses also the Law; for sin is the transgression of the Law."

*#G266 hamartian ἁμαρτίαν sin

1 John 5:18, "We know that everyone having been born of YHWH does not sin* (#G264), but the one having been born of YHWH guards himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.”

*#G264 hamartanei ἁμαρτάνει, continue to sin

Also to just put it into my own thoughts what drives a person is a big thing.

If seek Yah drives a person and yet they do sin, but it is not controling their life, generally speaking i would seem to be sin/#G266 hamartian ἁμαρτίαν sin

If someone is driven by things that are against Yah; sin and it is controlling their life, while that is obvious I think that would fall into the term "in bondage to sin/continually sinning" *#G264 hamartanei ἁμαρτάνει, continue to sin

I hope this thread gains attention on Scripture on the matter is posted.

No

I agree with the argument held by some on CC in the past - that a Christian cannot be possessed by a demon - but i think he/she may yet be bedeviled by chronic sin. And a most miserable creature he/she will be...it's a conundrum. One saved as threw a fire...

I believe that most people do not realize how evil this world is, and think that the devil and demons are seen only as growling and foaming at the mouth. That's not true. When someone finds themselves doing some sin and can't stop doing it, is because there is a demon behind it. A believer can have a demon. This whole life that we live is based on good and evil. There is a war. The devil has just come up with a clever way of getting what he wants. He has hidden the evil from us. What do you think those creatures are that they call aliens? There are unclean spirits that are invisible too. If we don't fight against flesh and blood, then who do we fight against? The demons influence our thoughts.

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

We all sin, but to be in the dominion of sin is living in sin,
and no one who knows and believes Jesus will live in sin.

the sinful nature.

Paul wrote
I delight In the law of GOD after the Inward man(talking about his thinking or his mind)but I see another law warring against the law of my mind and bringing me Into captivity to the law of sin which Is In my flesh.

Paul wrote that what he wanted to do he did not do and what he did not want to do is what he ended up doing.

GOD who Is sovereign and could have dealt with sin without JESUS having to die on a wooden cross LOVES righteousness and dealt with sin the righteous way and sent HIS WORD to earth manifested In the flesh and JESUS having mercy on us died on the cross satisfying the demand of the law which meant death and was resurrected and took back the power death had and gave whosoever will believe In HIM Eternal Life by Grace through faith.

Now
The Issue Is faith.

Sin dominates the unbeliever because of the weakness of the flesh but after the age of accountability the believer Is not judged by the law although we still commit acts of sin our spirits were made new and sealed.

There is no formula revealing an allowed amount of sin in one's way, however there is a Mediator between man and God when we believe..

The closest I am able to come to a formula is in a couple of passages from teh Word, Gods grace is new every morning and we are to forgive our brother's sins up to seventy times seven, or is that last seventy? No matter the message is we are forgiven and as in Psalm 32, God does no longer hold the guilt of our transgressions against us. It would help a lot to read Psalm 32.......

All blessings in Jesus Christ.
