Hi again SpoonJuly, I'm not sure that the Bible sees much of a difference in where such things originate.

.........Mark 7
.........21 ..From within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries,
.........22 ..deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness.
.........23 ..All these evil things proceed from within and defile the man.

It seems to me that "hate", "rudeness", "unkindness", etc., are all at least implied in the list of things above (things that proceed forth from the heart), because when they are directed at people, they all stand in stark contrast to "love" (which is always patient and kind, and never acts in an unbecoming manner toward others .. 1 Corinthians 13:1-8a).

~Deut

.........Matthew 7
.........12 However you want people to treat you, so treat them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

.........Ephesians 4
.........29 ..Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the
.........need of the moment, that it may give grace to those who hear.

.........
That's what I was thinking when I read his post, too.

The heart speaks first. What that means is whatever your initial unconscious reaction is to something that is what is in your heart. What a joy it is to see yourself grow in the Lord to where more and more times that first initial unconscious reaction is joy, and patience, and compassion, and all the other fruit of the Spirit.

On several occasions, Jesus called the Pharisees hypocrites.
He was rude and unkind to them and he hated their doctrine, but he did not hate them.

I see your point, but I believe there is a big difference in hate and rudeness.
I agree with you about that (that there is a difference between "hate and rudeness"). As for Jesus being "rude and unkind" to the Pharisees however, do you believe that He spoke the truth in hate (rather than in love) to them, and if so, what does that mean? What does it mean for us whenever we fail to "speak the truth in love" to others?

Thanks!

Jesus always loves. He loved the Pharisees, but they would not listen.
Sometimes rudeness gets the attention of the listener so they will listen.

Hi Ralph, I wish we had an "amen" emoji around here for statements like the one you just made :)

Like the Bible tells us, it is the loving intention of the One who saved us in the first place to continue His powerful, sanctifying work in our hearts, to preserve us in the faith, and to see us safely through this life to be with Him in Glory .. Philippians 1:6, 2:13; Hebrews 7:25.

~Deut

.........1 Thessalonians 5
.........23 May the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete,
.........without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

.........24 Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

The question is, are we like Jesus whenever we choose to be "rude"? I know I have been, but rarely :(

PTL that "patience" and "kindness" are the first two "ingredients" in Godly love (agape), yes :)
A work in progress here.
I have lived in the same place all my life. (72 years) I know everybody and they know me.
This internet forum thing is all new to me.
Did not know there was so much strange (to me) teaching and belief out there in the world.
Would not be here now if not for a health issue that happened in Dec. that "grounded me".
Won't be long and I will be here a lot less.

Agreed. While it's tough to realize how incredibly far I still have to go, at the same time, it's also amazing to look back and remember/see how far He has brought me in the last 31+ years. Pitiful Christian that I am, I know that I am a work in progress :)

I'll be 62 on Sept 2nd (and 32 in spiritual years this Nov 2nd), and even though I've been part of this online Christian world for more than 20 years now, like you, I'm still blown away by the vast array of strange teachings and beliefs that exist out here (and that on nearly a daily basis ).

I'll be sorry to see you spend less time here, but I definitely get it. I've had to take several complete, extended breaks from the exegetical/heretical insanity out here and 'run for cover' in the NON-virtual world of my church/orthodox Christian thought/beliefs (not that I don't need to take refuge there regularly whenever I'm out here posting too).

Is your health issue something that the rest of us should be praying about for you?

I am an outdoor person. Like being alone or with family and friends. Just not real sociable.
God blessed me with excellent health for 71 years and 11 months.
Had a stroke in Dec. Quite a shock to everyone.
Walking with a cane, but should be able to throw that away soon.
Still have some trouble speaking plainly and trouble remembering, but doing great.
God is good.:)

nope

why does God say He is NOT willing that any should perish?

not everybody hates their own sin or there would not be so awful much of it ... especially in Christians

yes. I said that

do you really think that reading God hated Esau gives us permission to hate also?

I find that scary and revealing at that the same time
The Bible tells us that God hates certain people and He hates all sin, we can't get around it. The Bible doesn't tell us not to hate at all, it says that hating without cause is a sin

The difference here is, this is speaking of believers hating on one another.

God does not hate His children.
Believers should never hate each other, or treat them in such ways as sometimes happens here.
God does hate the reprobate, but He loves all of His children. All true believer love each other, only the hypocrites hate Christians

There's no such thing as "believers hating each other". Only a hypocrite can hate a true believer.

We need to face the fact that 90% of those who profess to be Christians are hypocrites, they are not true believers. You can identify them by their fruits, just compare their works with those of Jesus and it will quickly become apparent who they are.

It's painful obvious that most people here are hypocrites, they attack others who don't agree with their views.

So you are a fruit inspector too?

I guess if the fruit does not live up to you perceived standard, you can move the person from the love side of the list to the hate side.:(

I feel so relieved you can point out the hypocrites to the rest of us.

Yes it's obvious, many here are pro Sodomite while professing to be Christians. Their fruits speak for themselves

often things said in Love are considered 'hateful' -
often things said in Love are widely misunderstood,
and this can bring forth anger, hatred, malice, etc...

another words, the more we speak in Love,
the less we are Loved' -
because it brings forth Light that shines upon darkness...

Proverbs 15:1 - A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.

This proverb has successfully worked for me numerous times with haters.
