Hey Everyone,

Our very own Melita916 is interested in finding a new hobby. Let's help her out a little bit and offer some useful suggestions!

After putting a bit of time and thought into this ;), I'm going to be making a list of things I think would suit her pretty well in the form of a poll. It's going to be multiple choice (you can pick as many answers as you want), and just for fun, I'm going to make it so that we can see what everyone suggests. :D

After you finish answering the poll, please stop by to make a post about your own hobbies (pictures would be great!), and/or things you would like to start doing yourself, and would suggest as possible candidates.

Hopefully we can have some fun with this and get to know something about each other in the process. :)

For anyone who isn't familiar with the polls, if you'd like to see what answers people voted for, look for "Votes" by each answer and you'll see a blue number indicating how many votes each answer received.

Just click on the blue number and you should be able to see who voted for what.

Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing what Melita herself will vote for. :D

I voted!

And for anyone who joins the book club, we are reading true crime books. More specifically..... serial killers.

Yeah.

I said it.

I am going out on a limb, and I'm sure Mel will have WORDS for me at some point, which I shall have to dodge...

I think her new hobby should involve consumption of additional comestibles, disrupted sleep, and acquisition of copious amounts of small disposable absorbent garments.

Nice thread here, nice thread. But... hmm... it seems to be missing something. What could it be, what could it be...

A song? Nah, I don't even know a song about trying to find a hobby.

A Bible verse? Hmm, that's close. But there are no verses about finding a hobby.

Ooooh, I got it! A self-righteous rebuke! That's what this thread is missing!

HolierThanThou said:
Hobbies are not biblical! Can you think of one single time when the Bible mentions anybody having a hobby? That's because they are a waste of time that we should be spending doing something more profitable!!! Jesus never had hobbies, and we are supposed to be living our lives like Him. Abraham didn't have hobbies, Moses didn't have any, David didn't have any. They were busy doing more important things with their time!

"But maybe they had hobbies but the Bible didn't mention them." Shouldn't that tell you something right there, that the Bible didn't even bother to mention them? The Bible mentions everything that is necessary for a good life. Eating, working, celebrating, resting, breathing, seeing, hearing, smelling, even peeing and defecating are mentioned in the Bible, but it doesn't mention anywhere that anybody ever wasted his time with a hobby.

If we have so much free time that we have to find hobbies to fill it up with, maybe we should look around to see if our fellow man needs help somewhere. I'm sure there are plenty of charity works that could use some help whenever you can find time to pull away from all your precious hobbies and donate a bit of time to help them.
There we go. Problem solved, lack remedied.

No need to thank me. I'm only here to be a blessing. :D

Hmm... I might have done too good a job on that HolierThanThou skit. I'm starting to feel a bit convicted myself. :p

By the way I notice one person voted for every single choice in the poll... except the last one.

Dino obviously likes to live on the edge.

I'm expecting Mel to throw something heavy at him any minute now...
