School of the Prophets...
!Sam 19, 2Ki 2, 2Ki 4:38-41 etc. (sorry no website for these guys)

compared to today's courses for $$$ at places like Bethel, Warriors Int'l, Passion etc...

https://www.bethel.com/events/school-of-the-prophets/

http://propheticschools.com/info/prophetic-school-training/

https://prophetpassion.com/school-of-prophecy/

Assuming the Office or service of Prophet is still existent today wasn't it supposed to be a gift given??

But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ's gift. Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.” (In saying, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower regions, the earth? He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, (Eph 4:7-11)

Why not 'schools' on all the other gifts as well?

It would seem that "after" Elijahs' days, when ALL the (good!?) "Prophets" were killed off, and Elijah cried out to God concerning this, that God "Raptured" him! Er at least, "raptured" in the common definition of those who that consider a pre, mid, post tribulation rapture mindset is seen.

Anyway, I digress! After Elijah, it would appear that "fear of death, and/or persecution", allowed for the "traditions of men" to infiltrate "men of God", to the point that, the "famine of the end times", not of bread and water, but, for "hearing" the Word of God, was happening THEN, as well as in these "current" days!

That being said, any "schools" of "Higher Spiritual Learning", or "education", save perhaps the Essene community, were of such a "socialized" mixture of "multi-culturalisms", that even the "then" priests (if you want to call them that), became lazy, to the point, that ones called "Nephinem", or "temple slaves", not to be confused with "nephilium", or fallen ones (although, they sure enough had many fingers in the pie), were doing the "courses of the Priesthood", INSTEAD of the Priests, whose "Duties" it was to preform were! To the point, that when Darius, instructed Ezra to go back to Jerusalem and rebuild the Temple there, that mid-way? He had to go back, and SEEK OUT Priests! Many of whom didn't wish to LEAVE the "comfy" lifestyle, they had become accustomed to! And, even when they HAD returned to Jerusalem, and started working on the Temple, that God Himself "marveled over" through Nehemiah, how the "people", including Priests had built such lavish houses for themselves, and yet the Temple foundations stones, had scarcely been laid!

And THIS happened WITH THE JEWS! Way back THEN!

How much MORE "tougher" it would be, after Jesus' foretold coming, and the Jews "rejection" of the cornerstone, for us "gentiles", to make the "trek" TO the "fulness OF", as Paul taught regarding this "Great Apostasy!"

Thanks BE to HIM, who knows the end from the beginning, for His "Remnant!" Elstwise, NONE of US, would stand a "chance!"

If Jesus was on earth he'd be running those people out of their stores.

Bethel was $400 for a single person. Warriors school was the cheapest at $149. And the last, the school of prophecy was $169, but only good for so many weeks, then you had to pay more.

Wow! That is a lot of people getting fleeced by charismaniacs. Because, God does not give us gifts for money. Of course some will talk about expenses, etc. But somehow, many conferences manage to offer for free. I went to a really good conference with Ken Hamm. Say what you will about him, it was free, and very interesting. Of course, I have always been a believer in a short 6 day creation.

And why do people want the gift of prophecy? I suppose tongues is already free, evangelism requires too much work, reaching the lost, shepherds and teachers really is a calling, and a lot of work training. So, what you have left is prophecy. I guess it must be the latest fad, to see all those workshops on how to become a prophet. I wonder if by paying for it, they end up like the prophets of Baal? That would make sense!
