So you did not choose to say yes to jesus when he offered you his gift? then how did you recieve it? or am I misunderstanding you?

i am not speaking of belief IN Jesus as my lord and savior <- came long after

my belief OF Jesus being exactly who He says... maybe 3 years later

but i also did not have assurance at first

so for that time i believed Jesus is God in the flesh
i believed He died on the cross that who-so-ever believes IN Him is saved

but being tied to sinless perfection

i did not believe i was saved for years

also

when i was blessed with assurance in Him

it came from much prayer <- choice
and study <- choice
and breaking down of false beliefs <- product OF the first two -> from God providing truth

when i believed IN Jesus as my Lord and savior

its not because i asked that i believed His promises

its because i HEARD His promises and BELIEVED them so i asked

Gods call <- drew me to truth (Jesus)
Truth <- resonated as truth....

i wasnt like "oh ill give this christian thing a shot"

i was like "oh no... i have wasted so much time in darkness"

i disagree

i believe we are saved by grace through faith

not choice

i didnt CHOOSE to believe Jesus is my Lord and savior

nor do i CHOOSE to continue to believe it

i dont CHOOSE to believe what is true

i just choose to seek truth

no matter how much i want
i cannot choose to believe i am saved by cheddar cheese

to me that is ridiculous

i cannot choose to believe i can fly

now being honest about what i believe is a choice

like when peter lied to save his own skin before the crows

he knew what he believed

he just chose to lie

You're hilarious! If you believe we are saved by grace through faith - great, that is what Scripture says!

But now tell me, are you unable to decide not to believe in Christ! That is, can you decide that you want nothing to do with Christ and reject Him? Of course you can! Every one of us can do that if we want! (You may say you don't "want" to - well "want" is choice!)

God's grace works together with our spirits to produce faith in us that brings salvation!

But to say we don't choose to believe in God means that we are robots - You cannot have fellowship with a robot!

i disagree that we are robots

and i agree we can reject something we in our heart know to be true and be given over to deception in time

but i dont believe the fact i have no say in wether or not something appears true or false to me makes me a robot

we both know

no one comes to Jesus unless they were drawn by the Father (called)

and we both know it is possible to be WILLINGLY ignorant -> eventually given over

i think what you and i disagree on is if someone can reject the truth AFTER they are born again

i chose to submit to the truth

when you hear something

you either believe it
do not believe it
do not know if you believe it

this is not a choice

what you do with this is a choice

faith comes by hearing

not by choice

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lol

i think im just arguing at this point

(._.')

sorry guys

i guess the point i was making is posted in my testimony

i was in unbelief (somewhat atheist... sometimes agnostic)

and i remember the night i believed Jesus to be who He said

and i HATED the thought of it

i DID NOT WANT it to be true

i loved my sinful life

and i loved my beliefs (that my sins like fornication were ok and could be justified)

and all i knew of Jesus
was from cartoons

or word of mouth years and years ago

i long since rejected Him

but one night

it was like i suddenly knew

how wicked i was..and that my only hope was Jesus

then

INSTEAD of seeking truth my goal was to convince myself Jesus was a fictional character or a liar

i rejected it
kept living my life
and even started listening to an audio bible and reading scripture on the internet as well as listening to videos "disproving" God

but... the more i heard

the more i knew i was lying to myself

then i submitted to the truth

and started seeking to know Him better

yes there was choice involved in my walk

no it was not regarding my beliefs

the only choices i made

were to try and reject

to give up my fight

and to submit

because as much as i wanted to the truth to be one thing

i wasnt going to lie to myself if thats not what i believed

the stakes are higher than a lifetime of fleshly pleasure

This is God working on you to bring you to repentance.

You still could have chosen to reject this truth, even after all this, I think that is our point brother

its All good.. Not arguing at all. Just trying to understand..If I offended you in any way forgive me bro!

yes
i do believe we can choose to be willingly ignorant

lol

no one offended me

if 3 brothers and sisters did not like the words i chose

then i should be able to accept the fact im either wrong

or CHOSE my words poorly

in this case i believe my words may have implied <- someone who is not saved has no choice over wether or not they will remain unsaved
or become saved

thats not what i believe

so my bad

(chester

even though we disagree on much i sill believe you to be my brother in Christ)

my bad chester

i think i misunderstood your original point

and my words were poorly chosen

the way i tried to explain my words (defensively) sounds as if im trying to say someone has no ability to reject the truth

this is not what i believe (but if i did believe it.... it wouldnt be my choice:sneaky::eek:)

the one thing chester and i disagree on regarding this

is what about a born again

saved believer

do you believe someone who is saved

has a new heart

the comforter (Holy spirit)
and the chastening of God

can still reject the truth even with all of this?

do you believe you can choose to give up on the truth after you have submitted to it?

Wow! What character you have! Very, very few times have I seen on CC the kind of character you just showed! (y)

About rejecting Christ after we are Christians, I will just "choose" to not talk about that topic now - don't have the time.

But on your journey to Christ and how you presented it above - Amen and amen and amen and amen a thousand times!

God bless you, brother.

Why would you come to faith, then lose faith? Is god trustworthy? If not, and he causes us to lose faith, then were we ever saved at all.

To me, you lose faith when a person fails you numerous times, since God never have failed us. If we had true saving faith, we will never lose it,
