Yes, I can be friends with men. I'm also married. Does your wife know about this girl? Have they met?
I don't think he's married, but he should be. Stranger seems like a nice guy.

I clicked the link in the recent posts box when I answered that. I didn't realize this is for singles. I'm married. That's breaking the rules here I guess. Sorry about that.

Not really...especially if they're unattractive. Unattractive in looks and/or personality.
If someone has an unattractive personality, you probably wouldn't want to be friends with them in the first place.

We have several married folks who post in this section. No worries.

Seeing how you are both single and live relatively close by to each other why not ask her out? Let's see, she's single, never been married, attractive, intelligent, well-read, amusing and a bit sarcastic. I believe that you two would hit it off and believe you to be compatible. She is definitely an opportunity of a lifetime for a guy that's interested and willing to take a chance.
Now I know why I am still single. I am oblivious to all the cues. I could have sworn her actions meant she hated my guts, not that she was in love with me...

Thank you for your kind words, but I am not interested in him at all. The man I marry will be a man who reads books. I am a great reader and I could never fall in love with a man who is not a reader. This is a nonegotiable with me. I must have a reader so we can talk about books.
You didn't know I read books a lot? What a shame. And you naturally assumed I don't read. That is a greater shame, and one of the reasons I will sedulously avoid starting any relationship with you.

It is a fact that I read a lot. In fact my mother taught me to read when I was about three and a half years old... I think it was in self defense, so I would stop bugging her to read books to me.

Why did you assume I do not read? If you just said you didn't know whether I read books or not, that would be quite natural, but you automatically assumed I do not read books. Why?

Unmarried Christians aren't suppose to have lovers.
I meant lover as in a person who loves one, not as in someone with whom one is intimate.

I read a lot of old books, so my vocabulary tends to reflect older definitions of words and not contemporary definitions. I am a throwback.

I assume you read comics. Comics are not books. Bookish people tend to be very cultured and interesting, Magenta, Desdichado, Tinuviel, are all cultured and interesting posters.

I think you should start talking to Mel and strike up a friendship with her.

I don’t hate your guts, but I do dislike you intensely.

With your experience, do you REALLY think Stranger is a “nice guy”? He is talking to a married woman online whom he has fallen in love with- do you REALLY think that is the behavior of a “nice guy”?

I think it is absolutely reprehensible behavior and not Christian behavior at all.

Is he? I didn't know that. Is he the one that started this thread?
No, I don't like men who talk to married women. They break up marriages.

I just looked. The only person who said he was talking to a married person is you. He said she is not single, I reckon that could mean anything. Unless a male and female are married, they're really just acquaintances.
I could have missed where he said she is married, but yours and Lynx flirting is distracting.

I asked the OP if he meant the woman is in a relationship or married. I don’t remember him answering my question.

It may be a case of my old fashioned vocabulary. In my vocabulary “not single” only means married. Unless you are married, a person is single- regardless of relationship status.

Dating people are single, engaged people are single, widows, widowers, divorcees, old maids, are all single.

The only people who are not single, are therefore, married.

I think I need to find a forum where only people from the Victorian era post. I can not communicate with people in this era. Our vocabularies are too different.

I am not flirting with Lynx. He is a self righteous bully. I don’t like him in the least.

No, I agree about the definition of single, but I know in this world of shacking up, the dictionary is falling apart.

I think you and Lynx make a cute couple. Good luck to the both of y'all.

No thanks, very much. I am a contentious woman and he is a bully. Two bullies is a recipe for domestic violence.

I suggested he chat up Mel, I hope that doesn’t step on your toes. We could have a smack down for the affections of Mel- the Cat v. the Cop.
