i think the most essential creed of the faith is "believe on him whom he hath sent". all this other minutia is really unnecessary. the question however is "do we really believe on him whom he hath sent?" or is it commentary for myth? are the first 11 chapters of genesis allegorical? a lot of scholars believe it's wonderful poetry! what! a supreme, sovereign being could not do that? he would have to be omnipotent, he would have to be omniscient, and he would have to be omnipresent! wow, I believe that is quite possible! a fact as a matter of fact!

What about "Believe INTO Him" or TO Him?

as in...

46 I am come a light into (eis) the world, that whosoever believes into (eis) me should not abide in darkness.

well i do not care which preposition you use. the king james says, believe on him whom he hath sent=that means=believe him=Jesus.

He explained to you what was written in the original Greek, the language it was originally written in and what the literal translation is and you dismiss it and put the KJV above the original Greek? haha... KJV worshippers...
I suppose you have to ignore 'minutia' if you're going to put an outdated translation above the original language.

We must do more than believe... "This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased- listen to Him! (Obey Him). "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Christ." When someone is your authority you must obey them. "With flames of fire He will take vengeance on those who know not God and who obey not the gospel of His Son." (Obey = no flames of fire, not obey = yes flames of fire).

God sent his message to humanity by using human language which includes Poetry, allegory, symbolism, hyperbole and other forms of written communication. The literal meaning of the text is an important foundation for understanding the message but there are higher levels of meaning which are used in the Bible. The Bible message is basically both literal and spiritual. To understand it you need to be aware of both. We also need to understand as far as possible how the writers and the readers who first received the text understood it, which in many cases was very different from how 21st century westerners understand it
