Pray for Shillong

Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya, a state in North East India. It is inhabited by tribal majority and 60-80% are Christian. There is also sizable population of non-tribal people.
Last week some tribal teenager boys were badly beaten up by non-tribals at a sweepers colony because of a misunderstanding among them. Tribal people reacted with riots, protests and clashes with police. Internet services has been suspended. Curfew has been imposed. The situation seem to be getting worse as tribal protesters keep breaking the curfew.

There seems to be reports that the culprit who beaten up the boys has been arrested but rioters have not stopped their riots. There also seems to be someone or some party encouraging the violence, even though the culprit has been arrested. The sweeper colony where this has happened is a slum like area and the government has not been able to resettle them for a long time now. The rioters demand their immediate resettlement, so do other NGO and political parties.

Should we pray for peace within the region and an end to rioting?
Safety for families living in the area?

Lord send peace like a river. Lord let your spirit drawn out the darkness amongs them. Send your light to disperse through the darkness and destroy it. Let your will be done. In the name of Jesus,Amen.
