Are you a Christian, religious, Pentecostal, believer, Catholic, devoted, saint......?

I was told I was "very religious " this week. And my respond was a giggle. Me? Religious?

We all have an identity in our faith. I call myself Christian because I follow Christ and love Him. I am whole and happy when I seek Him and am in His presence. I could never deny I am a Christian.

I also call myself a believer. Because that is what I am, anyway.

I can't call myself a Pentecostal, because I am not baptized as an adult. And I can't call myself a Lutheran, because I left that church because of the direction it has taken.
What people think about me, might be different than what I experience myself to be.

What are your thoughts about this? Does it really matter? How do you identify yourself as a Christian?

I think that today, anyone who goes to church is considered "religious", and anyone who actually knows a scripture or two is considered "very religious"!

Christian or believer usually suffices. Reformed works also.

I've been asked before if I consider myself more religious or more spiritual...I just go with a simple "Yes", and let them sort it out.

I don't think about it too much. I don't identify with any denomination, though I attend a pentecostal church. I've attended charismatic, Anglican, Presbyterian and Mennonite churches. Each has strengths and weaknesses.

I'm a Christian... and for anyone who's still listening, I believe in the divinity, virgin birth, atoning death, and resurrection of Jesus.

"Religious" and "people of faith" really rub me the wrong way. What does that mean, even? It could be Muslims, Hindus, Jews, Christians...you name it.

That aside, I like "Christian." But unfortunately, that spans a lot of different denominations and beliefs. I am "Calvinist", but that has gotten a lot of bad raps in the past so I prefer "reformed."

I'll accept most of the Christian titles that fit, and I know my background and behavior make it easy for me to know how to behave in churches or other Christian gatherings across almost all denominations. If I'm honest though, these days I struggle to know where I fit in the whole pile of christian stuff. I'm pretty solidly fixed on a Christian foundation. My life is pretty settled and stable right now and it's going well (largely due to that foundation). But so much of church and the presentation of Christianity in the west, is like self-help with Jesus. So as I'm doing well, it's hard to know how faith is relevant to my daily life other than maybe as some sort of insurance policy of better keep God around in case things start going bad. Maybe that makes me more of a typical Christian than I'd like to admit, but somehow I just don't think that's what God has in mind.

Yes the lack of biblical knowledge among believers is apalling, but maybe we shouldn't be too surprised when so many of our "bible study" groups are centered around a book or preacher on video talking about the Bible rather than the Bible itself (one of my least favorite things about modern churches).

I stick with Christian, plain and simple. If someone seeks clarification, I will clarify, but it's silliness to state yourself as anything else.

I am a Bible believing Christian a follower of the LORD Jesus Christ...

That's how i describe myself...

I do not belong to a denomination..

I am not ‘Religious’ but I am in a relationship with God.

And I believe in Jesus Christ, my Saviour who was sent to die for my sins and was resurrected 3 days later.

Well since I have a local UPCI license I guess I'd better say I'm a Pentecostal. =^.^=

But contrary to rumors we don't handle snakes. At least not in church - I'll run over one if I see it on the road, then back up and hit it again just to make sure, but we don't bring them things to church.

Also contrary to what you may have heard, we don't go around looking down on other people, other denominations, sinners and anybody else who is "not Pentecostal." Although there are these two elderly women who sit in the back pew on the far left, and they sure talk a lot about people... but the whole rest of my church is pretty good folks. And we're praying for those two women.

I say I'm Christian. I got to a Presbyterian Church. But to me religion is man, spiritual is God, so I think if you have a relationship with God and you follow him you're spiritual. Father Son Holy Spirit.

These are just my thoughts though and I'm not a genius or saint or even Wonder Woman. However Wonder Woman and I have never been seen together, soooo, hmm.

I tend to say I am Pentecostal Charismatic because it kinda gives a strong first impression. And it brings funny reactions. Other ppl from that denomination are glad. Others get curious and ask about it or think I am super religious and traditional. Here in germany too many ppl call themselves christian as all people have either catholic or protestant religious studies. so if I would say im just christian...u dont get taken seriously as ''everyone is''
All in all its a 50/50 situation for me. If someone tells you which denomination it kinda gives u an small insight of what they believe..but i cant really say its very important because in the end the fruit shows
