In Paul's letter to Timothy, he encourages him to be strong in the purpose and work of the ministry. Persecution of the Christians under the ruthless dictator Nero, was rife and it was easy for them to become fearful for their lives. Paul knew that Timothy was working hard, leading and teaching the Christians, strengthening them in their faith. Writing from prison, he wanted Timothy to reinforce the truth to the believers, that

The Holy Spirit was given to each one of them, at the point of their salvation. He wanted them to understand that they didn't need to give into fear, but rather rely on the power of the Holy Spirit within them. All they needed to do was reach out in faith and be fill with the Holy Spirit. As they did, He would cause a river of living water to flood into their hearts and infuse them with inner strength. The Holy Spirit would pour the love of God, that never fails or weakens, into their spirits, and would personally remind them of God's promises concerning them. God's Word, inspired by the Spirit, in their hearts would bring them supernatural peace and enable them to make wise, sound decisions, under extreme stress and pressure.

Our partnership with the Holy Spirit is the most powerful connection we will ever experience in this life. No matter what terrifying challenges you may be facing, you can trust the Holy Spirit to fill you with His life, love and supernatural power. Trust Him to remind you of God's promises over your life and let the peace that truth brings, cast out all fear and give you a mind clear of doubt and free to make wise, sound choices
