There is something I don't understand: Many or most Christians pick on or outright hate gay people. I realize that homosexuality is a sin however the verses they usually recite also include adultery, fornication, idolatry, drunkenness, and liars. So why single out gays?

Also: Predestination, many anti-gays believe in predestination so if people are predestined to be gay why pick on them more than them more than the others? Does the Lords prayer not say "Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who have sinned against us..."

Who among us was born without original sin? thththat's all folks

I agree with your first comment, And yes It is sad, All sexual sin is sin no matter what kind it is. Yet again, we are all sinners, so we should not judge anyone

as for the second. God did not predestine people to be sinners. He did not predestine the pedofile, or the adulterer or the fornicator. or the homosexual.

Gays probably get singled out because our society is in full "You have to accept it as normal" mode. Everywhere you look, ALL TV shows, nearly all media is pushing the "gay is normal" agenda.

This is offensive to many people, so they tend to over react to that particular fault/sin.

Picking on gays more than on adulterers and similar is more a cultural thing than a biblical one.

Plus, I don't think there is a lot of "hate" for gays... at least not what I've seen and read. I work with several openly gay people, and have no problem with them at all. I would never "endorse" their lifestyle, but it is not my job to "fix" them. One of the ladies, several years ago, when finding out I was a Christian, said "So you think I'm going to hell, don't you"... I told her that decision was not mine to make.. it was way above my pay grade. She and I became pretty good friends, and had some really good discussions about it. I found out a few months ago that she had gotten out of her 14-15 year relationship with her "partner", and was now dating a man. She seems to be happy with it...

It has always been my experience that whatever is forcibly pushed down the throats of the church is what they detest the most.
It's also my experience that those who stand for sin will protest for its lack of acceptation.;)

I guess I just don't understand the doctrine of predestination, that's why I wrote it in question form.

No one is predestined or "born" gay. There is absolutely zero evidence for it. The "gay gene" does not exist. Homosexuality is a lifestyle of choice, whether they are conscious of it or not.

It is an aberration even in nature. If our sole purpose is to procreate and pass on our genes, as the atheists claim, then homosexuality is an anomaly and not "natural" at all.

Homosexuals use "born that way" as an excuse to remain active in the perversion.

I was a psych major in long beach California and have known people asked to leave church because they were admittedly gay. I was also asked not to return to church because my wife (female) divorced me, the rational was divorce is the same as adultery and we don't allow them in our church either. That is where my sympathy for them comes from, also I worked at a wedding chapel in Vegas for 7 years and what I've heard pastors and chaplains say about them after asking them to leave is a shame.

If you stand for holiness and purity you will be hated by those who don't. I do not have an opinion about sodomy but I rely upon what God has said in His word. My opinion will not change what God has declared from heaven about sodomy.

Sexual orientation is not the problem. Unforgiven sin and a lack of personal knowledge of God is the problem.

Look mates, I know the big man has probably got a reason to put these drips out here. Punching their clackers and whatnot. But what are you gonna do with em ya know? Send them to some government run brainwashing camps to zap the fruit out of em?

I have not seen any " gay bashing here" None. The issue is the overeaching political laws the gay agenda is pushing. To be taught as anormitive in schools, and as in California AB2943 is hostel to Christian faith and the Bible.

In spite of what they taught my in college I think homosexuality is an anomaly like a birth defect in some, that's why their suicide rate is so high, in others its a choice. Choices can be changed, if willing. Birth defects cannot. I have little sympathy for those who choose to be gay but their those who would rather be dead and those are the ones I feel sorry for.

I tend to believe that nobody is born strictly homosexual. I think sexual preferences are developed very early in life.. perhaps below the age of 1. I do believe that many people can feel an attraction to either gender, but I also believe that is a developed/learned thing.

What that person DOES in response to those attractions is where the willing sin enters the picture. Much like it is not a sin to BE an alcoholic. ACTING on that desire to drink to excess is where the sin enters. It's the same with any other "flaw" that we as humans have..... whether it's overeating, or lustful promiscuity, or running your mouth as a gossip. Having the flaw is not a sin.... acting it out is where it becomes sin.

i also have seen no "gay bashing"

here is a post from a similar thread

one of the major issues with LGBT is that it is a group of people that justify a specific sin.... even take pride in it

there is an agenda being pushed

to even claim God made them that way
when the bible is very clear God tempts no man/woman

now all sin is sin

so to be tempted with a homosexual lust is just like temptation for fornication outside of marriage

it is not a sin when you feel tempted

it is a sin when you allow these temptations to work lust in you

(actually continue in lusting.... to imagine sexual things and not hold your thoughts captive)

but to live in a lifestyle of lust
while trying to justify it as if it werent sin

calling good (reproof) evil

and evil (lust) good

is not something that sounds like someone given a new heart and spirit will do

when we are saved "by grace through faith"

and NOT of works (including your own righteousness)

God makes us new....
and chastens His children

so someone who calls themself "gay" before being saved

would understand this is wrong
it is a sin

they have become addicted to a specific kind of lust
and this would break them when they feed their temptations

thoughts or actions

they would pray to be delivered from this
(and God can heal them.... He has delivered many from these perversions)

to say someone was born that way
or has no control over it

is to call God a liar

although to say someone who may still be battling lustful temptations isnt saved isnt a biblical stance

it also isnt biblical to say when we are made new we treat Gods grace as a license to sin
or blame Him for our weakness
or try to justify our sins as if it is something acceptable

sorry for the long winded answer

but i guess in short

we should love them in that we want what is best for them

we tell them the truth

we try to encourage them to turn to God and be delivered from their perverted temptations

the same way we would encourage any lustful person trying to justify their wicked lifestyle

like a husband who has many affairs or a single man/woman sleeping around every chance they get claiming what they do is natural and acceptable

if they truely believe

they will see their actions as sinful

and God will provide the growth from there if they are truely His though conviction as they grow in knowledge and
chastening if they attempt to feed their initial temptations
